Zagyg's multi class system addresses the hit point situation nicely by allowing the character to earn the appropriate hit points for the class in which he is currently levelling. So a level 5/4 Rogue/Fighter advances to level 5 in Fighter, he will gain the D10 for the class. When he advances to 6 in rogue, he will then immediately gain the D6 that the rogue class confers. He won't really get shorted, because the SIEGE engine will continue to support the actions he wishes to perform. The only thing he need worry about is that the level-dependent benefits of each class will take a bit longer to obtain. This tradeoff seems acceptable to me and fairly balanced.
Actually the CZ multiclassing thing ensures that you get more HP faster by multiclassing than you do by not doing it, and you only sacrifice 1 level to do it.
Remember, the xp system works on a doubling scale. Getting 1/2 xp to each class basically puts you at 1 level behind in each class than a person going single class would have.
So for 36,000 xp, you could be a fighter lvl 6 with 6d10HD or you could be a Fighter Lvl 5/Rogue Lvl 5 with 5d10+5d6 HD. Now, once you have recieved 10HD from both classes, you immediately stop gaining HD, and gain the hp/level normally achieved after 10th level in base classes. So you are "front loading" on your hit dice. But you also gain HP after level 10 from both classes.
At 600,000 xp, a pure fighter has 10d10 Hit dice. A Fighter/Rogue has: 5d10+5d6+26hp. That is more than the difference between those 5d6 and 5d10. This is without adding CON into it.
