Hello everybody -
I will be running a C&C demo at the Game Preserve in Bloomington, IN on Free RPG Day, June 23rd. If you're in the area, come check it out!
Also, I just received my C&C CK screen. It's gorgeous! Laminated cardstock, fabulous art, and the relevant charts. Worth every penny.

Good luck with that demo!
Sadly, it doesn't appear RPG Day will be making much of an appearance north of the border in its first year. Hopefully it will be an outstanding success and make its way to Canada next year.

So far, so good with C&C. My players dig it, I'm comfortable with it's oldskool appear, and all my ancient AD&D books are relevant. I've got Cosmos Builder coming in the mail, and I'm psyched about breaking away from the hoary (though servicable) D&D cosmology.

If you haven't already, if you ever see Green Ronins "Book of the Righteous" get it. ITs an awesome religious cosmology write up. Even if your not happy with how Aaron Loeb did it the thing is awesome as a template for you to do your own thing.
I like it more than I like "Faiths and Avatars".
I'll have to see if the LGS' in Sierra Vista or Tucson are supporting "Free RPG Day".

I'll look for it at Noble Knight. We're in the process of developing the religious cosmology, and good ideas are always welcome.

Then GURPS Religion is the only book you need.

Let's not have a religious war about this
Honestly, the only sourcebook I need is MAR Barker's The Book of Ebon Bindings.

I own a good bit of GURPS, mostly Traveler, but I have bought the 4 "core" for their 4th edition. Anyhow, I never bought the GURPS religion book. I don't even remember seeing it.
So why do you say it s so good? IE what tools and info does it provide?

Its a book specifically devoted to bringing religion to life, from the creation of creation stories, to religions of other sorts, such as animism and the like. Other books, like Cosmos Builder (I don't have it, but according to the author) focus on "where" and "how" not "why" which is what a religion really is... its an attempt to explain that unanswerable question.

Hello Mount Sky,
I will more than likely be there. PM me some info and I may be able to round up more players.

I'll be doing demos of C&C on that day at Dragonrail, too. Should be fun.

Yes, but I've got the original The new edition is red.
I was a big Tekumel player around 1983-85, and most of the OG stuff was available back then.

From what I understand it is "US only"" this year. Depending on how it goes this year they are hoping to make it more world wide next year.

I thought I saw mention of boxed sets being given to those who demo C&C....is that legit or just another pipe-dream?

For some reason, I'm under the impression that Troll Lords is providing the scenario for Free RPG Day. Hopefully, I'll get the materials a bit in advance in order to prepare for the session.
In other news, I'm running a C&C game at Avalon (a game store in Bloomington, IN) on Tuesday, June 5th. We will be generating characters for adventuring in my homebrew setting, Dalryn.

A local hobby shop in my area is participating in this event. I plan on going and if its a possibility to grab some extras, I will be glad to do so. I will ship them to you if you are willing to paypal me the shipping. That's granted they have enough for seconds

I have seen the C&C Quick-start rules in person. My local FLGS only got 6 copies. It's safe to say that most of the stores only got 6 copies of the Quick Start rules. My sugestion is that if you can get to your FLGS early, do so.
The book is essentially a light paperback with about 18-24 or so pages. I didn't get a chance to look at it for a long time, but the paper quality and cover is like a comic book, except regular book sized. There isn't much art to speak of, but it seems like a nice oversized "pamphlet" if you will.
On a side note, if there is anybody in the Cleveland Ohio area for Free RPG day, make sure to stop up at the Warzone-Matrix for free C&C giveaway's, raffles and demos!

I'll have to see about the store here locally. I doubt they know anything, though.

Looks like your store only bought one kit Omote.
Plus looking at the web page for FreeRPG day it looks like I could buy a kit. Maybe I will next year.

I'm not sure about what the website states, but stores (at least my local FLGS) was allocated supplies from the FREERPGDAY people, which was one kit as they only received one box filled with give-away swag.

Originally we'd thought there would be only so much interest, i.e., maybe if we were lucky 100 stores would be interested.
Instead, 300 stores signed up!
Many of us (including myself, i.e. AGP) couldn't increase our print runs from the 1,000 units we'd already set. So in the case of Tell Qa, there are only 3 or 4 copies per box.
Next year we'll know better, and be able to set our budgets accordingly.
Only brick and mortar stores should be able to buy the kit... and though originally we thought we'd have enough so that more than one kit could be bought per store, it ends up it didn't work that way.
Unfortunately, also, Green Ronin's printer screwed up, so their product didn't make it into the kit... they are going to try to get it to stores otherwise, not sure how or when.

Imperial town of Tell Qa is definitely on my Free RPG day shopping list.
Not to go too far off topic, but when will Ravaged Ruins of Roglaras be available?

Yay! I think this will help get more of the internet hardliners, and quiet lurkers, to give C&C a fairer shake.
At least those who can admit the possiblity that 3E is not the gaming mecca of all gaming.

Heh, in my quick read through of the Quickstart rules, I found a spelling error.
Mechanically though, the book is good.
On a side note, you have the Quickstart, and you have the monster PDF. Have you thought about a cut down treasure pdf, so people can see that the magic items aren't all stat blocks and stuff? Or did I miss it.
