Working on new spreadsheet - who made Deconstruction sheet?

Post by erc1971 »

Hello Everyone.

I am working on a new spreadsheet, a companion to my automated character sheet.

This new sheet will automatically calculate the XP needed for custom classes - using the information found on class ability XP cost deconstruction PDF. The thing is, I need to chat with the author of this PDF to clarify a few things.

So, who wrote it?

Thanks,

Eric

I did.

Just so you know: If you plan on making the sheet available to the public, you can't, nor can you use it to make a freely available spreadsheet. The information in the deconstruction pdf is covered by a NDA, and all those who have it, or use it, must conform to that. I've stated this before.

That does stink, though at least I can have it to use within my gaming group as a time saver.

The questions I had were...

1: For Totem Shape, you listed a cost of "1000/level" - I have no idea what you mean by this. It is a power you take once and it improves a bit later on.

2: Experience gets kind of funky around levels 9 and 10 - how do you calculate it at this point?

Thanks,

Eric

The way Totem Shape works in the PHB is it costs 1000 XP for three levels. So, it modifies the chart by 1000 when its obtained, and the next two. So, yes, you take the "power" and it improves over time. Its just not a single 3000 point cost, but 3000 broken over three levels, which means, technically, it costs more (due to the doubling.)

Getting the "flat" XP is difficult, but the difference between 8th and 9th is typically used, rounded down. Its rather complex, and not able to be publically divulged.
