Also, forget 2e for a good resource on weapons or armor. Get the Palladium Compendium of Arms, Armour and Castles. It has 700+ weapons in it, and like 60 types of armor. Fully illustrated, too.
Yes, and the illustrations are a bit bigger and they go into descriptions on the various pieces of armor. They even have Oriental Versions I am using for my L5R game.
Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog is defintiely another goodie to get if you can.
Another good to excellent equipment book is the one Kenzer put out for 3E.

Oh, the box was 18' x 18'. The contents, as I remember, a stack consisting of four hardbacks, a couple of perfect bound supplements, and an old set of chits. My wife packed it, she's thorough, the packing was about as thick as the stack. It wasn't a bad deal at all, certainly better than Half Price Books.
Does Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog contain equipment and weapons in detail, or more common items like foodstuffs, wagons, kegs of ale, etc.?
The reason I ask is that I was at a store looking for it on recommendation from this forum and talked to a guy there about it. He described it as listing all sorts of different food and drink offered by the different races, but not a lot of equipment/weapons/armor.
That kind of turned me off of buying it (I didn't find it there anyway).

Its like a Sears catalog. Its got all kinds of stuff, from weapons to armor to tents and beef jerky. Its not a "book on weapons" as much as a very cool "book of stuff."
If you're looking for a book on weapons and armor only... get the Palladium Compendium.

Another nod here for the World Builder. This has been an absolutely invaluable resource for my C&C games. The myriad illustrations are most helpful to those of us who don't quite know what all those weapons and suits of armor look like as well.
