Well now - It looks to me that the Ranger class outshines the Fighter class and even the Knight with there bonus to Humanoid and Giant damage bonus at +1 per level -
Am I wrong or does this seem excessive?
I have not yet played C&C and will take my beating quietly if I am off on this.

Its important as the DM/CK to just not have too many of the Rangers racial enemies be what they fight, otherwise your right.
Plus I went by the 2E definitons for the Rangers racial enemies, as it is right now I agree it is too broad. I still kept it broad, I define it as racial/organization enemies that are threats to the civilization that the Ranger is defending. However, that definition fits how I wanted things to be for the campaign in which I use that definition.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

This can happen with just about any class. It depends on the nature of the adventure. If there are lots of undead- the cleric outshines everyone. If a lot of sneaking is involved, the rogue looks great.

But i agree I thought it might be too. After all, paladins only get one smite per day which does the same damage as every ranger attack against his selected foes.
There are a couple ways to adjust it. You could either narrow the scope of monsters that qualify, or else reduce the damage. I chose the latter, and give a damage bonus equal to one-half the ranger's level. Still potent but creates a different flavor from Smite.

Yeah, I changed "Smite Evil" to being like the Rangers Marauder ability against a "specifc group of evil", and being able to chose another group every two levels thereafter.
Like the Paladin in my current face to face chose "Servants/Worshippers of Unklar" and "goblinoids". Not sure what he will choose at 13th level. Probably Dragons of evil.
I also allow the Ranger to pick a new Racial Enemy every two levels after 6th.
Of course, if anyone was playing a fighter they would feel very outclassed much of the time. The advantage I am thinking of giving them is to use their "to hit" score for combat related SIEGE checks. So they will be their level+specialization+any strength, and magic weapon bonuses on any such checks.
Thats pretty HUGE in my games since I allow SIEGE checks to mimic many of the feats in 3E.

I player this btb, and with a fighter, a ranger, and a paladin all in the party, each had their moments, noboby was better or worse than the others. The key was there was a variety of foes and challenges, so each class had the chance to show off a bit.

I don't think the Ranger is out of whack but I believe the Fighter just needed just a little more. What I decided to do was alter the Fighter's Combat Dominance ability:
Combat Dominance (Revised)
At 4th level, the fighter gains an extra attack when scoring a hit on an opponent with half the fighter's hit dice or less. The extra attack should be considered a 'follow-through' where the fighter is exploiting a weakness in an opponent. Provided the target of the original attack meets the hit die criteria, this extra attack may be directed to a different opponent as long as they are within reach and also meet the hit die criteria. This ability improves as the fighter progresses in levels with an additional attack gained every four levels thereafter. Combat Dominance does not combine with the Extra Attack ability and cannot be applied to ranged weapons.
The party I'm currently running has a Ranger but they saw how much a Fighter could shine when a friend popped in for a few sessions playing a 4th level Halfling fighter. It was pretty awesome!
Other people have tweaked the Fighter too in various other ways.
As for the Knight... we've (my gaming group) used one in conjunction with other warrior classes and found that the class held its own quite nicely (though in different ways)
