Is it legal if...

Is it legal if, because I lack the full C&C PHB, I try to somehow re-create C&C versions of the Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, etc. using a combination of various fan-made CK screens and my AD&D 2e books in order that my players be able to use these classes?

Not as long as it's for personal use.

Just to clarify a touch, I believe Omote means that it is legal as long as it is for personal use.
Sorry about jumping in there, Omote, but just wanted to provide a bit of detail on the matter.

No problems, Tellhawk, that is exactly what I meant. It's good to have a creative legal team to clarify moments like these.

For personal use only is always legal. Its when you try to sell it or distribute it widely that you can get in trouble.

Well, considering that C&C is created under the OGL, um, yeah. You just gotta follow the OGL rules.
According to the "Designation of Open Gaming Content" in the PHB, all the class stuff is Open. So if you follow the OGL, you are good...

So from AD&D2e to C&C? Well, I could suggest this:
1) Convert Thac0 and AC so "it works upward" as in C&C.
2) Use the single ability scores modifiers of C&C: 13-15: +1 / 16-17: +2 / 18: +3.
3) Import the SIEGE engine (while removing non-weapon proficiencies; or turning them into a flat +2 bonus to siege-engine checks).
Doing this, you would have a C&C-like game using your AD&D books, with minimal efforts and conversion work.

Why not just by the PHB? It's only $13.57 at amazon.com. Worth every penny.

Breakdaddy,
You need to go kick Steve around. There are six copies sitting at the offices; one for him, one for Davis, one for Todd, one for Mark, one for MacBain, and one for you... of course, I suppose for Steve to know that, he would have had to have READ HIS E-MAILS.
Heh. Silly me.

Oh, and that thing about Steve reading emails is hi-larious! We all know Steve lives on an island with no power and one monkey with a coconut phone.

I eventually scrounged up enough funds to buy the PHB 3rd printing, masked by an order of the latest William Gibson novel.
