Capacity of Saddle Bags?

Post by Captain Napalm »

So how much fits into Saddle Bags?

I'm assuming they can be combined with a regular saddle?

Now this is a relevant, cool question!

I sure wish I had an answer for you.

I'm reminded of one of the latest panels from DM of the Rings... but the site appears to be down right now.

Edit: ah, the panel:

And the pertinent commentary:

"Players tend to treat horses like motorcycles: They are vehicles which can go anywhere you can walk, will never wander off, have no fear, feel no pain, and can travel at top speed for as long as you like.

And if you think players abuse the rules surrounding backpacks, just wait until they get their hands on the greatest of all interdimensional containers, saddlebags."

Well I'm thinking saddlebags have the capacity of two large pouches. That seems about right, but an official or semi official ruling would be nice.

The encumbrance errata thread states:
Quote:
The Shoulder Pack on the equipment list should be marked with an EV of 3 (w) and should have a Capacity of 10.

So, using that as a general guideline, I would rule that a saddle back has an EV of 5 and a Capacity of 16 [8 on each side.] And, like other large storage compartments, reduces the EV of contained items by -2 (as per the errata.)
