M&T 2nd printing
M&T 2nd printing
Quick question-
Does the second printing of Monsters & Treasure use the same glossy pages that are used in the third printing of the Player's Handbook?
Thanks!

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

On the side of the book does it say TLG 80112?

Nope. Mine says 8011, but has the new poison "types" in it and all the errata. Very different from my first printing.

Gideon certainly has me wondering now.
I did at one point think this particular copy was a first printing since I could have sworn I bought it before the second printing was announced. Then I noticed the poison table was different, and all the errata I had taped into my first printing copy was printed in this one.
So maybe my copy is printing 1.5?
The paper stock seems different, but it certainly isn't glossy and slick.
Its print date is 2005 and signed by Peter Bradley at GenCon 06.

Steve said.. "Isn't that odd?"
But if its from 2006, I cant imagine how those tables got in there. Cause they weren't even created till 2007 for the dragons of airhde book. ^_^

Well, I'm not sure if this will clarify or confuse the issue but here goes:
When I first began to look at the new poison charts in the Miasmal Wyrms, I noticed that the M&T first printing had similar poison types (I though IV) listed on page 127 but they weren't the same as the revised ones... I didn't think anything of it till now... However, the poisons listed in the 2nd Print PHB clearly do not match those in my 1st Print M&T. I have found that they also do not match the newer revised charts either.
I've got a 3rd print PHB and a 2nd print M&T coming my way so I can't wait to compare some things 'side-by-side' so to speak.

I just wanna know if there is a symbol of a snake eating its own tail in this anomalous book of Treebore's. If there is, I'm going to have to report to the Circle of Ouroboros that Castor and Pollux are up to mischief again.

I haven't bought Miasmal Worms, nor did I order the M&T second printing in my last order because I thought I already had it. Either way, this has a lot of errata fixes and a different poison table that my original didn't have until I printed out and taped in the errata myself. So my first M&T and my second one are definitely different print runs.
Guess I'll have to buy Miasmal Wyrms after all. I was waiting for them to be put into print.

Hmm... certainly interesting.
As for the Miasmal Wyrms... it's a great accessory all in all (being the first part in the Dragons of Airdhe series) but that accessory has been in print for some time now.

Just cant be dude, we've only done two print runs. And if you pick that up at GenCon last year, you got the first printing.

Well if I make it to one of the conventions I'll have to bring along both of my copies and show you.

lol -- that's alright, I have those moments too! If I remember correctly, the PDF and Print versions came out around the same time. And, like a lot of their other modules, this one is priced at $8.95

Yep, it is a great book. Lots of interesting variations on a dragon/wyrm monster type. And if you think you're players tend to study/memorize the M&T, you can slip in one of these bad boys for the surprise!

Yamo answered it. Then Gideon confirmed it by pointing out that mine wasn't since it isn't glossy.

True, but you said yours had the 2nd printing changes. Or is that not the case?
I think i'd prefer non-glossy myself, since the paper seems more sturdy. That thin glossy stuff seems like it would tear easily.

My two M&T's are very different in errata, the poison table is a bit different, but I am being told that I don't have the second printing. How that is, with the correct vampire write up in one, but taped in by me in the other, the correct XP explanation in one, taped into the other by me, we don't know, but the second printing is glossy. Neither of my copies are glossy.

Umm. . . my memory is far to fuzzy for details . . . but aren't they both references to Robert Heinlein? Castor and Pollux are the mischievous twins who sold those flat cats . . .
The Time Police/Circle of Ourboros monitor time travel.
Combining two different Heinlein books - Rolling Stones and To Sail Beyond the Sunset, right?

So, the only differences between the two print runs are:
1) glossy paper
2) errata
3) new poison tables
What are the new poison tables? I'm familiar with the new tables in the PH (which i didn't care for- i like all the names). Are these the same tables in the 2nd printing of M&T?
I do prefer the bolder print on the cover, however.
Decisions decisions...

That would be the ones your looking for, yes.

Close enough. Ttry Time enough for Love, and Sail Beyond the Sunset where they were involved in the story. Heinlien's stories were never 'separate' what with his irrelevancy bus hook.
Glad to see there are fans of truly visionary work out there though.

Will future releases (say, the CKG be printed in the glossy or non-glossy paper?
Basically, i'd like my collection to be consistent. If the next print runs and future releases don't use glossy, then i'll wait for the next print run.
But if glossy is the new standard, i'll start updating now (and sending my old copies to disillusioned 3E players... heh).

Glossy, to make it all match.
