I have the PHB 3ed. P 45 has the rules for worn and capacity objects. The example given seems wrong and the rule makes little sense.
The example given is a backpack (2 ev/ 1 if w) carrying a bedroll (3) hammer (2), 50 nails (1) and 50 feet of silk rope (2). The example states the total capacity of the items inside is 5 and 6 with the bag counted and worn.
How? The says "reduce the total EV inside by -2." Per this rule the total capacity of 8 is reduced by -2 making it 6. Then add the 1 for the worn bag for a total of 7.
Am I reading the rule wrong? It also seems that the benefit of a capacity object is low. Is this intended? I think I saw somewhere else that others are allowing the capacity items to cut the total EV of the items inside by 1/2.
