A beserker is definately a better name... and now I have images of Erik The Viking playing through my head... (with the father and son beserkers)...

I think this thread was valid at the time, but believe with the introduction of the 4th printing version, the Barbarian has really become a stand alone class.

No, but the C&C Barbarian from 4th printing onward is a nice class. I am developing a Basic C&C with only four classes, Fighter, Rogue, Magic user, Mystic. However, I am allowing advantages and secondary skills that will improve with character level, 1/2. I will allow multiclassing and class and a half, which mean most fantasy litterature characters can be simulated well enough including Barbarians and Conan.
