So, for those nostalgic of the AD&D gnomes (like myself), I created this race. It could be used also in games with the standard C&C gnomes, which in my campaign I have called "fey gnomes".
They get a mix of abilities from C&C gnomes and dwarves.
Gnomes
from C&C Gnomes:
Animal empathy
Combat expertise (kobolds, goblins)
Darkvision
Enhanced hearing
from Dwarves:
Defensive expertise (gnolls, bugbears, ogres, giants)
Determine depth and direction
Resistant to arcane magic
LANGUAGE: Common, Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, Goblin, Kobold
SIZE: Small
MOVEMENT: 20 feet
TYPICAL CLASSES: Rogue, Illusionist, Assassin, Fighter, Cleric, Bard
ROGUE AND ASSASSIN MODIFIER: +3 listen
AD&Dish Gnomes

Ah, there is no love for gnomes
Well, in AD&D gnomes were quite interesting, since they were the only demihumans capable of becoming illusionists, and it was a huge asset!
I like gnomes to be a fey race. It makes them different, with their own justification. What I didn't like with AD&D gnomes, is that they looked too similar to dwarves. But that's just me... (Of course, in AD&D since dwarves couldn't be magic-users, having gnomes illusionists made the justification for the race, but well...)

Gnome illusionists and assassins can be terrifying if used right. A group of three-four gnomes with a combination of these classes and maybe a rogue can be devastating. Don't overlook the gnome, my friend, they have the potential to be deadly rascals.
Nice write-up on the gnostaligic gnome, it looks great, rabindranath72.
