Twilight 2000 conversion?

I am seeking a conversion of Twilight 2000 into Castles and Crusades rules. Does anyone know of one or want to co-work with me on making one or even take it upon yourself to do so? How much interest is there in this?

Wow that's a tough one! You might want to wait to see the Star*Siege rules, as they will likely be much more readily and easily adaptabe to make something resembling Twilight 2000.

That said, I love T2K. Just found out my local FLGS owner (primarily a war and board gamer), used to play a ton of it back in the day, and would love to start up a campaign. Now I just need that extra day in the week to fit in another game...

Twilight 2000 was awesome! I pretty much agree with James though, it'll probably be a whole lot easier to convert with Star Siege. However, once that's out, I'll be happy to help.

In a similar effort, I'm waiting for Star Siege to properly convert Star Wars D6. I've poured through my WEG books and have already figured out a 'baseline' to use for the conversion in question. I just need the new system to start plugging in and playing... er I mean 'testing'.

I think with Twilight it might be best to adapt the setting to the d20, rather than try and adjust everything from Twilight to the d20.

What I mean is there are plenty of d20 versions of m16's, grenades, Humvees, etc.... that we can use that to adapt to C&C, rather than already reinvent the wheel by converting stuff from the percentile system of Twilight 2000 to the d20.

So its more a matter of deciding which set of stats to use for conversion to C&C, then deciding on how to rewrite the "classes", which I think will also be pretty easy.

When I run my Traveller game in about 6 weeks I am going to be running it as skills based classes like it is in old Traveller, adapted to the d20. Maybe, if it works, we will be able to use that for a Twilight 2000 conversion too.

You know... as far as equipment goes, I'm in complete agreement. But in terms of stats and skills and such is what would need the conversion. I figure with Star Siege, it'll be a lot easier to do in order to be more true to the original T2K system. Then again, just running a type of C&C modern with help from the modern SRD in a T2K would be easy if you didn't care so much about those mechanics either...

Good points though...

Funny you mention Twilight 2000 for C&C. I am in the midst of converting and heavily modifying a specific old Twilight 2000 adventure for my next Campaign. I plan on using the Star Siege rules for the mechanics part of it. Great minds think alike I suppose.

I won't say which adventure yet, since two of my players frequent these forums.

Later,

Bill

That sounds really cool. I would love to play some SW with the Siege Engine.

And TW2000? That, Top Secret, Gamma World, and AD&D were the "Big 4" games I played before my 10-year hiatus of 1990-2000. Loved those games.

EDIT (thinking out loud): I wonder if Spycraft d20 would be a good way to play an espionage game, once it got the SIEGE engine installed into it?

Too bad you can't play in our Thursday night on line game. We started up Twilight 2000 last night, Traveller C&C style is next, then Gamma World. We do 4 to 6 weeks of each game system.

When is Star Siege slated to be released? I bet it wouldn't be to hard to convert T-2k into D20 Modern. I'd love to use the T-2k concept with the D20 Modern system and a little bit of Star Wars Saga Edition innovation thrown in for the perfect system. The only thing is that D20 Modern only has a Soldier class and no mention at all of Special Forces like the Seals or Rangers, etc.

We're talking about T2K and Star Siege. NOT some subversion of Traveller.

There's a whole series of pdfs/books working up special forces types for d20 Modern. They are under the Blood and Guts line.

Thanks! I went online last night and purchased some of these. They seem to be quite excellent and will allow me to pursue my idea.

Awesome. If/when I get hi-speed internet, people in my family are going to think I vanished. Heh. I will check out the online games down the road, methinks.

I am already really far into converting it and the results thus far have been amazing. I think a mixture of D20 Modern with the best of Star Wars Saga Edition makes for a VERY robust system...probably superior to what 2013 will be.
