Question about Equipment

Ok, I have been playing Castles and Crusades for about a month now with a group totally new to RPGs. We're having a great time with Castles and Crusades. There is just one problem I have. In the equipent section of the players handbook there are A BUNCH of weapons, armor, items, etc. I have NO CLUE what they look like or how they are used. All I have is stats and I'm not sure if half of what people are wanting to use are even remotely appropriate for our game.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a book or website or ANYTHING that can help me with this problem?

serleran has a ton of cool stuff his files are definitely worth a look-see.

For me, I pared down the weapon list pretty extensively for my game. Partly because I felt individual stats for so many weapon wasn't that important. i.e. IMC, there is no difference between a scimitar, a broadsword, or a longsword other than the description/flavor text. Also I felt that -for the setting- not all cultures had access to all those weapons.

I also wanted to mention that Unearthed Arcana (the original, not the d20) has pictures of a whole bunch of strange polearms in it. If you have a copy, you might find that useful.

Really? I agree, mechanics wise. But I think the OP is looking more for purposes of helping his players "visualize" their characters. Plus make sure they look right for the game he is running. So pictures are very good for helping with these aspects of the game when the CK hasn't been exposed to such material before. Its why I own several books of weapons and equipment. Many of us simply like to know how things look.

Treebore is exactly right. It would just be nice to know what a flamberge looks like or what a cestus is (I'm using these because we had to go do a wikipedia search in the middle of character creation).

It's kind of a "duh" thing when you've played these games for a while but my group and I are really pretty new to RPGs. It's a game of the mind so visuals are important if you have no prior experience with what an item looks like. I chose to run Castles and Crusades because I liked the fact it was somewhat easier for new RPG players to pick up on. This lack of description for what things are is my only beef with the game. Other than that, it rocks.

What the heck is that??

Resurrecting this thread because I'm currently reading through the Player's Handbook and am clueless on some of the equipment and armor listings. For example under Helms: Armet, Bacinet, Benin, etc. and then there is armor, weapons, etc.
For the love of all that's holy, somebody help me!

Click my Google Group link in my signature and download the Weapon and Armor Descriptions.

Or, send me a PM with your email address... seems Google decided to stop liking that file. Says "cannot be found' which is BS as I just re-uploaded it.

Toooo true

If you have the time you can dig up a lot of stuff (descriptions pictures etc) from google or even wiki.

Omote

I never noticed that was in the weapons ... I know what my next fighter/ranger's weapon of choice is going to be! By the way there is a great write up on it in wiki (spelled Goedendag)

Serl, I hadn't notice you'd hung all that up for down load. Thanks for sharing! Great stuff!!!

I always refer to GFW World Builder when I have a question. Of course, I've been considering reducing the weapons and armor list dramatically...

Totally. If you can find a copy of World Builder somewhere, you will be set on weapon and armor description.

I'll second Breakdaddy. World Builder is a great resource, if you can find a copy.
