Monsters and Treasure: XP question

Post by Jerm »

I'm completely new to C&C and while reading through the Monsters and Treasure book I found something not explained in the book: the interpretation of the XP a monster gives.

E.g. Aboleth has XP: 1610 + 9

The book says that this is the average XP people get for slaying, subduing or otherwise defeating this monster. Does the party get 1619xp for slaying this monster or 1610 + ?? times 9 or how must I look at this?

It's just that I don't get the "+ X"

Hope someone can help

Thanks

It is + (x times the number of hit points the foe had).

Ex. Say your Aboleth had 36 hit points, then it would give 1934 xp (1610+(9*36)) for defeating it.

Now say you had an Aboleth with 72 hit points, then it would give 2258 xp (1610+(9*72)).
