Two New Creatures - Leather Golem and Hungry Bed

Post by clavis123 »

Here are two new creatures, perfect for campaigns with mature themes.

GOLEM, LEATHER

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 1-4

SIZE: M

HD: 5 (d10)

MOVE: 30 ft.

AC: 13

ATTACKS: 1 Spiked Whip (1d8)

SPECIAL: Pain, Entangle, Trip, Trample, Immune To Mind Magic

SAVES: P

INT: None

ALIGNMENT: Neutral

TYPE: Construct

TREASURE: 5

XP: 340+5

The Leather Golem is a most unusual adversary. It appears to be a tall, statuesque woman clad in head-to-toe leather, which is often shiny and/or studded. The figure appears to be wearing boots with fearsome 4 inch metal spikes as heels. No face or hair is visible, but the entire head is shrouded in a full leather mask, which may be accented with metal. The figure holds a wicked-looking whip, embedded with sharp bits of metal. Leather Golems are often used to guard harems and torture chambers, and are sometime found in the temples of cults of dark eroticism.

If a Leather Golem's outer covering is split, (as during combat), the inside is revealed to be a stuffing composed of bloody rags knotted together.

Combat: A Leather Golem will strike with its whip, seeking to entangle or trip victims. Tripped victims will also be trampled by the thing's metal heels.

Pain: A Leather Golem's whip is enchanted to cause magical Pain as per the Symbol spell. Unless the victim saves versus Constitution, their Dexterity score will be reduced by 2, and they will suffer a -4 penalty on attack rolls, Dexterity saves, and ability checks. This pain lasts for 10 minutes.

Entangle: Creatures struck by the leather Golem's whip must save versus Dexterity or be Entangled, and unable to attack or defend themselves. Entangled creatures lose all armor bonuses due to Dexterity. The Golem can release this entanglement to attack another creature with its whip. An Entangled creature gets a new Dexterity save each round to slip free of the whip.

Trip: Humanoids entangled by a Leather Golem's whip for 2 continuous rounds will be brought to the floor, where they will be subjected to 2 trampling attacks.

Trample: Prone opponents will be trampled by the Leather Golem's metal spike heels. These attacks are at +2 to hit, and each heel does 1d4 points of damage.

Leather Golems are made by wealthy and perverted magic users and clerics. The ritual of construction requires 8,000 gp, plus an innocent victim who must be flogged until they bleed. If created by a Wizard, the ritual also requires the following spells: Limited Wish, Animate Dead, Symbol of Pain, and Geas. The clerical version of the ritual requires: Resurrection, Animate Dead, Symbol of Pain, and Geas.

HUNGRY BED

NO. ENCOUNTERED: 1

SIZE: L

HD: Body:6 (d12); Tendrils: 2 (d12) Each

MOVE: Immobile

AC: 15

ATTACKS: 4 Tendrils (Special), 1 Bite (1d8)

SPECIAL: Choking, Chewing, Minor Image, Euphoria Gas, Immune To Blunt Weapons,

SAVES: M&P

INT: Exceptional

ALIGNMENT: Lawful Evil

TYPE: Undead

TREASURE: 6

XP: 480+6

Perhaps the most bizarre form of undead an adventurer can encounter, a Hungry Bed is formed when the spirit of a perverted and debauched individual becomes mystically bound to the bed on which they indulged their lusts. Damned to forever crave human flesh, a Hungry Bed will seek to entrap unwary lovers or weary travelers. On occasion, it may form an alliance with a living patron, using its powers of Illusion and Euphoric Gas to enhance the patron's orgies in return for regular sacrifices. As befitting their origins, most Hungry Beds are luxurious and comfortable, with finely carved wooden frames, soft silk-covered mattresses, and rich silk and fur pillows and covers.

A Hungry Bed's treasure will be found inside of it's mattress once the creature is destroyed, and consists of the personal affects of those it has eaten.

Combat: It is not unusual for a Hungry Bed to play with its victims, using its magical abilities to create a pleasurable experience before eating them. When a Hungry Bed decides to attack, its sheets will swirl and lengthen into 4 tendril-like appendages, while an enormous, tooth-lined maw will open up in the center of the bed. Any creature lying in the bed when it reveals its true nature will be bitten for 1-8 points of damage.

Choking: A hit from a tendril does no damage in of itself, but if the creature hit does not save versus Dexterity the tendril will have wrapped itself around their neck, doing 1d8 points of damage per round. A creature being choked must also save versus Strength or be dragged to the bed's maw to be bitten and chewed on. A successful Strength check will break a tendril's hold. Each tendril has 2 HD, and damage in excess of its hit points will sever it and render it useless.

Chewing: Any creature bitten by a Hungry Bed must save versus Strength each round or automatically suffer 1d8 damage as the abomination chews on their flesh.

Minor Image: A Hungry Bed can use Minor Image as will, as a 6th-level Illusionist. It can use this spell to communicate by forming illusionary books or scrolls, or illusionary creatures that pantomime the bed's desires. Usually, however, the Bed uses this power to lure victims by creating the illusion of an attractive potential mate.

Euphoria Gas: A Hungry Bed can release a cloud of sweet-smelling gas in a 15' radius around itself. All within the affected area must save versus Constitution each round or be affected as by a Confusion spell.

Immune to Blunt Weapons: A Hungry Bed cannot be killed with blunt weapons. Even if it's frame appears to be damaged, the Bed itself will not be harmed, and will instantly regenerate it's frame. Only damage done by piercing or slashing weapons to the mattress will destroy a Hungry Bed.

Turning A Hungry Bed: A successful turning attempt on a Hungry Bed will result in it becoming a normal bed, either temporarily (if merely turned), or permanently (on a destruction result).

Perfect for a not-so-normal brothel, maybe this is what a few adventurers may need to encounter so that they'll stop trying to get some in every gaming session..lol.

......

Not for the normal PG game but I'd love to see the looks on the players faces the first time they face these (if they are into that anyway!)

They don't have a smiley for the expression I had when I read that.

I am definitely looking forward to your take on the succubus and others, since you tend to use as much of the old original lore as possible.
