Addiction?

Post by babbage »

You know, I've been DMing (and playing) for a long time. I have also used the internet for a long time, but hardly every post onto forums (I just browse).

Somehow, this game has managed to get me to post over a dozen times and although I have both the books, I haven't CK'd or played it yet (though I will be soon).

Whatever it is that you are doing, keep doing it.

And hurry up with my CKG.

LOL... they lace something in the paper of the books... I swear!

It's a great community overall... and, as I've stated before, this is one of the only forums I actively particapate in.

Welcome and keep on posting!

The CKG is a myth. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE! Steve will release a book with random words cut and pasted from teh intarwebs and slap a cover on it that says CASTLE KEEPER'S GUIDE so that everyone will stop talking about it. Then we will read it with high expectations. These expectations have become so high, that even if the random snippets from tehwebz were actual CK advice we would be agitated and nerdrage would be invoked. We all kill Steve. THE END.

In all seriousness, I would not be looking forward to the release of the CKG if I were Trolllord Steve and company. I would be dreading it. Who knows what the expectations are 4 years later anyway? And even if the book is superior in every facet, y'all KNOW there is going to bitchin' and hollarin' about the CKG for years to come.

The CKG has become such an important aspect to the C&C game just because of it's mythic quality, and really that's a shame. As many of us know and have said, you don't need the CKG to play or run C&C, not even a little bit. But the fuss over this book has driven TLG to buckle down and put out a tome that perhaps is not what everybody is looking for, and that will lead to debate for years.

I still have a feeling that the CKG is going to be uber awesome, but not as useful as everyone originally thought it would be.

To the OP:

Welcome! And let me heartily encourage you to actually run a game, because the real beauty of C&C is in the playing.

Also, I think the CKG is actually an extra-dimensional data node outside the normal time-space continuum. It already exists, because it has always existed, and will always exist. Only when the stars are right can one actually see it, however...

Welcome!

Let me save all you guys some trouble and the trolls some worry. I just got back from Dec 25th 2014 in my time machine and while i was there I looked at my book shelf. the CKG was pretty dang cool and a great resource for the game! I came to the new forums and looked around as well and read that it was on its third printing.

Also I found out that Davis's hip surgery from the then famous Trollcon'12 Minotaur Ridding accident went well so no worries there. In fact Steve and Davis were planning a new video about the ranges of Siege Engines and the stress limits of the human body as soon as Davis felt up to it.

So see? No worries.
