Hey all, and some questions

Just came aboard the crusade. Im a big fan of oAD&D and Basic/Expert D&D, but C&C seems to do all that, but at the same time be easier, nicer and have a lot of neat options, without going into "attacks of optimized opportunity" land.
So far, I dont have the monster book, as Im figuring I'll mostly use my old AD&D monster manuals and Fiend folio. How does poison work in C&C ? HP damage, or something else ?
Maybe I missed it in the errata, but how much faster does a monk move ?
Cheers folks!

Well poison can do several things, HP damage and others. There is a great chart for creating poison on p. 126-127 in the M&T, and a list of poisons under the Assasin class on p. 17 of the PHB. I use these in my game and they work just fine. Often I add my own, I simply say they do some cool effect (I had one that made victims stamp and snort like a bull) and typically have a Con Save.

That works
And I realized the monk movement is on the chart in the book. I completely overlooked that

If you have the 2nd printing, there's a chart for poisons in the Assassin class write-up, if I remember correctly.

Well, we played through our first adventure and it went like a beauty. Just like playing AD&D, but with no worry about looking things up. Im sold
I decided to finally break out my original AD&D Forgotten Realms box set, and use that. For monsters, my oAD&D monster books. I didnt bother with counting xp, preferring to just keep it freeform, and give a reasonable reward.
Lots of fun was had by all
Quote of the day:
The party finds a bandit lair in the dungeon, with 9 sleeping brigands. In a nearby room, they encounter an ogre. After a hasty discussion about what to do, they decide to jump in, taunt the ogre, and then run through the bandit lair, hoping they'll fight each other.
Unfortunately, the two are allied, and the bandits get up, and chase after the party as well (cue Benny Hill music)
The conversation that follows goes like this:
Ranger: That didnt work very well
Knight: Well, how many humans are going to be working with an ogre ?
Ranger: 9

To answer your poison question, it can inflict a ton of different forms of damage. I've personally used poisons that inflict 1d6 damage to every attribute so far except cha. Some can do HP damage too.
I think the only important thing is getting the saves right. 12/18 + level of poison. I usually use the monsters HD for the poison's level.
