Question re: Vampires

Post by nwelte1 »

I note that the text stated that vampire spawn have Regen 1.... what about an actual vampire? Where is its regen stated? What is its regen?

3.5 suggest a fast heal of 5 but 3.5 also suggest a spawn as a fast heal fo 2 instead of one.

Thoughts?

I don't believe it's supposed to have regen. Spawn are a bit different from "true" vampires.

I've always assumed that the vampire can create a full vampire if it chooses by giving the intended some of its blood, like int he movies. The spawn are created by being killed from the vampire's blood drain attack, so is slightly different.

Nothing official there, mind you, just my take on things.

I expect its the same as the spawn. Looks like its another piece of errata that got left out. Someone might have posted it in the M&T errata thread?

Yeah, its some where on these boards. Serl answered the same question when I asked last year. I have a healing of 5 in my notes, so I can only guess that is what Serl told me.

Here's what I was able to find:
Vampire entry in the d20 SRD wrote:
Fast Healing (Ex): A vampire heals 5 points of damage each round so long as it has at least 1 hit point. If reduced to 0 hit points in combat, it automatically assumes gaseous form and attempts to escape. It must reach its coffin home within 2 hours or be utterly destroyed. (It can travel up to nine miles in 2 hours.) Any additional damage dealt to a vampire forced into gaseous form has no effect. Once at rest in its coffin, a vampire is helpless. It regains 1 hit point after 1 hour, then is no longer helpless and resumes healing at the rate of 5 hit points per round.

And...
