Ship to Ship Battles at Sea

Does anyone have rules for this? If not maybe I'll take the time to make some up because the party will be going on a voyage soon.

I'm sure that there are some rules in some of the ol' AD&D books *somewhere*... I'll take a look!

Was there anything specific you were looking for?

I started thinking the same thing after watching a show about ghost ships last night on TV. Then I strated to imagine a privateer campaign.

I'm looking at sea battles like boarding, canon fire etc...monsters attacking the ship...

I was thinking of having the ship have hitpoints for the port, starboard, bow etc.

Wasn't there a 2E supplemental book that dealt with naval engagements? Wasn't it one of those thin blue covered books like the 2E Arms & Equipment Guide?

There was a 2E book, Of Ships and the Sea or something like that, though I did not like the naval combats that interesting, and complicated.

Mongoose put out some ship to ship battle rules that are decent, though it is 3rd edition stuff, but it could be used for C&C.

Just uploaded some ad hoc house rules for ships, not meant to be terribly realistic but should serve my purposes for a while.

Let me know what you think and any input would be great.

ps. the pdf is on my website.
