Monsters and Treasures Reprint?

Post by simonp »

I'm going to order the PHB reprint, and wanted to pick up Monsters and Treasures as well. I wondered though if there might be a reprinting of M&T in the near future.

If so, should I wait for the reprint, or is the original M&T fine in terms of typos and errata?

The errata for M&T is considerably less than that of the 1st print PHB, though I am unaware of a pressing need to reprint it at the moment. If more people buy it (hint hint) there will be a reprint, obviously. So, currently, there is only a M&T 1st print available. If you have any questions on it, please ask... I think I can answer.

Hey! I've bought two M&T's as it is!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Certainly buy the M&T right now - it's a wonderful book and there aren't any major errors - just a few small tweaks and errata that are addressed just by checking here with Serl if you have a question (or by going back through the boards - I think they've been addressed here already).

Welcome simonp. I think you'll be quite pleased with the 2nd print PH and M&T. Both are very well produced with great content, layout and artwork!

Enjoy the game.

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm getting back into the hobby after a few years absence, and man, are there a bewildering array of rules and settings out there (I know, I've been doing diligent research over the last little while). There also seems to be alot of kludge. Thank goodness for C&C. This will be my fantasy rpg. And I will probably use Fudge for a Traveller-style scifi campaign.

I'm going to order both books through Amazon Canada, as the total should qualify for free shipping here. I hope Amazon doesn't gouge Troll Lords on the discount.

Cheers

Simon

No. The discount comes from Amazons profit margin, not the Trolls.

Welcome, M&T is a good book, I need to buy a second because my first is taking a beating from being used so much, good quality. The only thing I would love to see in the M&T is some more pictures. I know there really can't be a pic for the invisible stakler, but a belt and scabbard flaoting in mid-air would be hilarious.

Hey that's a nice thing to say. Normally I could care less if a publisher doesn't get his full retail price, but TLG and a few others that have reasonable prices are the exception and I don't mind paying them full price.

But if what Tree says is true, then Amazon must have an amazingly large profit bucket, er tanker!

I would have paid cover for both, but if Amazon is going to give me both a discount and free shipping, there I went. Very happy with my purchase. Its artwork, its rules and all are pretty.

Like I said elsewhere, kudos. And I'm also pleased to hear it's Amazon taking the hit on the discount.

Very glad to hear you are enjoying the books, and that you were able to get them for cheaper than normal. Personally, it doesn't matter to me what you paid (1$, for example) as long as you bought it, and want to use it. Simply knowing that the book is seeing, and giving people some enjoyment, is a wonderful thing.

Back when Amazon was still famous for being a billion dollar company, but losing lots of money year after year, I read how they operate on a 5 to 10% profit margin on books. Supposedly, and I have since come to believe it, they make more by the volume of sales being so high, rather than giving less of a discount and far lower sales volume. Very similiar to early Walmart strategy. Which changed since Mr. Wal-Mart (Walton) died.

My first set of the PHB and M&T, I got through amazon.ca and at the time they shipped within a 24 hour time frame. They were both discounted but I had to get something else in order to qualify for the free shipping. I opted not too and I still paid less than cover price!

The best part though is I ordered them during the afternoon... they got shipped out that night, and I got them the next morning! Once again, it takes longer with free shipping... those who pay for shipping have priority over those who don't. It was the fastest shipping I ever received.

May your books arrive just as promptly!

I bought an extra paperback to get the free shipping . It was one I was planning on getting anyways, but I guess that's how they make their profit.

The estimate is three weeks for shipping; but it looks like they have everything in stock, so hopefully it will be sooner.
