Last night was probably the heaviest use of "feats" we have had since we started using C&C. Fighting flesh golems and Achieri (sp?) probably had a lot to do with it.
The Achieri (those bird things with super long legs) was where it started. They didn't have reach weapons to attack the main body, so they had to take out its legs. They asked if they could do a cleave like maneuver whenever they destroyed a leg (they had to destroy 3 legs to get them to go prone). So I said yes and the TN would be 18 for the fighter types (The birds were 6 HD, so 12+6). So they started rolling and being 6th level they had a fair number of successes in taking out extra legs each round.
The next tough battle was the Gren (Sea) Hag (This is Palace of Shadows, btw). She was really doing a number on them with her +13 BtH (9HD and I gave her 20 STR since she had +4 to damage on her claws). So they asked if they could do extra attacks. I said well your sixth level (thinking that in 3E they would have that second attack) so sure, give it a try, but it is a TN 21 because of how tough the Hag is.
They didn't get a lot of extra attacks this way, but they succeeded in getting enough to make the difference between the Green Hag mopping the floor with them and their winning.
So I am liking using Feats this way. So is my family. Having to "try" and pull off a feat definitely added to the tension of the battle because getting those extra attacks was obviously important. Much better than having them granted. At least for C&C.
I/we like how we are using "feats"

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
