Right now, I am using the party as its own iconic bad guy.

How's that work?

Pretty easy, really. Wherever they go, the NPCs either want to kill them or run away. Bad things seem to follow them and people die. Helps having an assassin in the party, though.

My iconic bad guy is Lloth, under a guise she perverted a knight order into a fanatic cult.

The Holy Redeemers, mention a blue fez or grey robes or redeemer and my players positivly foam.

Sort of an eviler Children of the Light from Wheel of time.

Is 'eviler' a word?

Lolth is a classic, demons and drow...throwing in a corrupted order of knights is even more gooder.
