I'm trying to create a few new magic items for a game. I see how to go about calculating GP value, but how do I calculate the XP value? Looking through the lists it usually ranges from 1/4 to around 1/3 of GP, but this isn't set ins tone. Is their a formula I've missed?

I've often wondered about this, too. Even last night when we were playing with two new players and they asked (inevitably) "how much xp do we get for the magic items?" I don't award the gp value because that gets pretty high. Sometimes I dont give any xp for it because it's a magic item and it's benefits are just that.
