Looks fun.

When you actually get used to playing HM, is it really as complicated as the rulebook makes it look? I mean, it's the first game with a cut-out initiative guide, so I think the answer is yes, but ... what say you?

I do a "bright idea" XP award. As well as a "What you said made us all fall out of our chairs laughing" XP award.

I wouldnt ever get a promptness award from you, mostly because I had to go to the store to get the munchies.

Clerics get a mulligan if they rolla "1" on their "Cure Light" spells.

Oh yeah i forgot munchy xp and entertaining xp...

Basicly if it promotes an enjoyable game i give xp for it.

I played 4 edition of Hackmaster.

My campaign world is in one of the GM perserves from Garys wurld.

I loved the game, but the comlexity level of it was too much for most of my players.

I had been trying to simplify it for a long time.

We had cut out ALOT of the character build stuff too try to simplify it.

Then i stumbled on C&C ,its like the perfect cross of old and new with all the coplex crap left out.

The Seige engine is simply brilliant.

Keep in mind i dont know any thing about the new edition of Hackmaster, but own Aces and Eights, and having bought Kenzerco products in the past....Its as bad or worse complexity to 4 ed version.

I like KenzerCo but not for their games. I like the KoK setting and (of course) KoDT.

One solid thing C&C has going for it is it's ease of new player friendliness. Er, it doesn't take a brand new player (even one player's ten-year-old son) or a player familiar with a totally different game (even White Wolf's WoD system) very long to learn and master. They can jump in and in 20 minutes make considerable contributions to gameplay.

Back on topic: There is also the "You figured it out" XP awarded for those guys that avoid the lethal aspect of puzzles and riddle rooms. Kind of like the "Bright Idea" XP, but sometimes seperate.

Also, how do you do Trap XP? This is always been tricky for me and I dont exactly have a system for it yet. In other words, come up with a good system so I can rip you off since I've been handwaving trap XP to this point.

I've been thinking about this, only a more controlled version... It increases their lowest Attribute. Of course, this is in conjunction with my modified SIEGE Engine where Attribute values truly matter. (see my thread if you are wondering what I mean)

This is interesting. How much did you have to modify to make them work?
