What is the primary campaign world you game in with C&C?

by serleran
None. It would not classify as a "world" since it is but a single section of a map, and the map is not even drawn, nor are the names known, or the occupants... basically, as the players play, I fill in the details as needed, s we explore together. I guess that could be called a homebrew, but since it is not developed, or even the same from campaign to campaign, I do not consider it a "world."

Greyhawk, but with Bowbe's excellent Haunted Highlands thrown in.

At the moment it is GGames Known Realms (a.k.a. DCC World).

It's hard to say right now as I'm in transition in a few campaigns. In the past Greyhawk would be the world I have used the most for C&C, though my homebrew setting of the Rhuinlands is very close.

Using the excellent C&C companion for the pirate setting, Freeport. Slipping in old 3.0 Pathfinder adventures, Goodman games modules and C&C modules for the meat and potatoes encounters. Custom designing the big bads.
Honestly, that $12 PDF is great for some C&C ideas/stats even if you don't play Freeport. Consider it a min-CKG until the CKG comes out.

Of the folks using Greyhawk, what edition/version are you using?
Posted: Wed Sep 09, 2009 4:32 pm

All my games so far have been in a world loosely based on colonial->antebellum America...but with medieval weaponry, feudalism, and no guns.
There isn't really a map, and aside from the few truths about the world I've made known (like the couple of kingdoms where action happens, why there are no halflings, etc.) its not too definite a place, which makes it more fun to explore. Sooo, pretty much what Serleran said, only a tiny bit more defined.
I can't say I'd really want to run a stock setting, though Haunted Highlands would be it if I did (or maybe Tainted Lands if I get around to getting it).

Everything up through From the Ashes era (inlcuding all the Carl Sergent sourcebooks, YEAH!!!), and the late 90s supplements. Didn't get much into the Living Greyhawk stuff, though I use some of it for inspiration.

I use the Folio and WoG box set, with some material from CoG, GA hardbook, The Adventure Begins, Player's Guide, and the 3e Gazetteer thrown in to flesh it out. I also am using the Castle Zagyg material located where the Ery & Neen (Urt & Nemo) Rivers meet.
I also am reading the Gord series of books which is helping bring the world more to life in my mind.
Hope that answers your question, Viv.

Everything listed, plus more, with the exception of Middle Earth. I finally realized a few years ago that all those "settings" were just small pieces of big worlds, so I stitched them all together to make up one big world, thanks to Aihrde and Unklar giving me what I needed to make it all fit together sensibly.
So my world has what is listed, minus middle earth, plus Wilderlands, Blackmore, Mystara, Ravenloft, Cascandia, Faerun proper, and probably another setting or two, since I have room for them.
So far my campaigns have been in Airhde, crossing over to Cascandia and Greyhawk in later levels. One group rode past Ravenlot, but didn't go into the big black bank of clouds. Very wise of them.

I have never actually run a published world, unless you count a short 4th Age Lord of the Rings campaign that died due to a move across the country by me.
Ever since highschool I have always ran my own worlds... well I should say world. The current version of my campaign world is a distilling down of idas I have been working with since 1985.

While its still early, I'm shocked to see Aihrde getting no votes.

I might use Aihrde when it's republished, it looks great. At the moment I'm using a modified version of Harn.

I've considered using Aihdre but I decided to wait until there was a C&Cized version of the Codex or some other detailed Aihdre setting publication.

Is the folio not good enough? I don't have it.

I didn't "vote" since as I posted I use all the settings I can in my world, Airhde among them.

The folio is good, but for me, it is a very large overview of the world. There's not enough little details in it that can be found throughout the d20 Erde release, all of the TLG Aihdre modules, etc. The Trolls have a great, very moody and specific feel to their setting that, IMO is missing from the Aihdre folio release. The folio has all of the nuts and bolts of the world to get you going to make the world your own, but I need a little more detail to get that very specific feel that the Trolls have to their setting. Eh, maybe I'm weird. *shrugs*

The Folio is pretty darn good, in fact I refer to it first, then to the Codex when the info isn't in the Folio.

Right now, I'm completely homebrew. It's a setting that's been in progress for about 4 years now in one form or another.

Soon, I hope to have a possible preview of a post-apocalypse Earth. But, that will not be for C&C, so the idea is moot for these boards.

I've always found it easier to run my own world than try to fit my vision into someone else's. Now...that doesn't mean I don't use things I find useful in these other places however.

83 box set. I started my game in FR, but transitioned it to GH because it's just better.
I plan on using later, 2nd Editon, stuff, because I'm a fan of Sargent's work...but I'm not that far up the timeline yet.

We use the deities that came in After Winters Dark.
(AWD=Folio, I guess)

Greyhawk, 83 box set. We started in Common Year 576, but now it is 577.
I internet mine Livng Greyhawk, Cannonfire, and later Greyhawk info (such as Oerth Journal) to fill in blanks as I see fit.
I've been running my players through the Verbobonc/Gnarley Forest region for the last several months. They've been through highly modified versions of 'The Rising Knight', 'Verdant Rage', and now they are going through 'Wicked Cauldron'.

Wilderlands of High Adventure, of course... though I haven't run that in quite some time. I've discovered the hard way that mixing business and pleasure can add to one's stress...
Right now, with the limited play time I have, unfortuantely, I'm not playing any C&C at all. I play one night a week, with an alternating game schedule between a Serenity campaign run by another fellow and my Greyhawk campaign, run using AD&D 1E (with a dash of HackMaster for skills).
As for The World of Greyhawk, it is Gary's Greyhawk, using only material from the original '81 gazetteer, the '83 boxed set, the classic modules, and Gary's and Rob's articles in Dragon Magazine (though should the party ever reach Castle Greyhawk, we will be using Castle Zagyg in its place). After a hiatus of almost five months, we are returning to the campaign in 580 CY... you can find out more here:
http://jamesmishler.blogspot.com/search ... 20Campaign
When I get a chance to increase my game play time, I hope to run a C&C campaign using either pre-WotI Mystara (with no WotI ever happening), or Fourth Age Middle Earth (though I've tinkered with using a variant of B/X for that as well).

I've converted an old AD&D and 3.0 campaign world over to C&C...
Gaile
It ain't Shakespeare, but it'll do for my game.

I would certainly like to vote for this one, though I can't since I'm currently not running it. With the eventual release of Of Gods & Monsters, I plan on using the Norse deity descriptions and abilites for clerics in a Eastmark campaign.
