Spell Cards for C&C

I know, for me, 4th edition was not all that it was cracked up to be. I do like the Spell Cards that you could purchase or by using the Char Generator it could print out with your character. Has a fan already come up with this or would the Troll Lords be interested in producing something like this?

Whoops! I should have said D&D 4th Edition (WOTC) which should not be confused with C&C 4th Printing.

The thought has come up a few times on these message boards.

For my personal use, because there are not as many spells at that other game, I don't really see a need or a use for them.

If you have OpenOffice you can use its PDF creating utility to copy from a PH PDF each of the spells into a index card format and print them out, laminate the sheets, then cut them up.

While not exactly what you're talking about, the Mad Irishman's Spell Planning sheets fit the bill for my group.

If you mean something like the Deck of Wizard Spells from AD&D2e, then no, I don't think something like that has been proposed, because it would be an awful amount of work and might not be worth producing (no offense, but I really don't see a huge market for it.) I do see the in-game benefits, though, especially when new players are involved... rather than learn how every spell works, they can be given little cards that have all of it built-in.

Hi,

When the older versions of D&D was the game of choice, I just made my own.

I didn't play spellcasters alot, but when I did, making my spellbook was one of the most fun things to do. I would buy one of those folders that had the metal bendy things so that you could be in the hole punched paper. And I would write out the spells and all index cards and tape them to paper and put them in the book.

Then, when playing I had a ready made prop, and something to use as a reference for my spells.

So, spell cards are great, but the homemade ones are the absolute best.

Wolfram.

Most of the time, I run the games. When I am a player, I usually go for the fighter type. There are times when I am thrust in the role of a spell caster and while I can find most anything in the PHB, spells are always a pain to look up. I think because I'm not usually using the same system all the time. While I prefer to run my games under C&C, the other GM's use a variety of systems. I don't expect the Troll Lords to provide these cards if there is no market for them but, I thought I would ask. I pre-ordered the "FOURTH CRUSADE" in print form, maybe I'll order up the PHB in .pdf format when it comes out. I'll use Treebore's idea and carve them out of the .pdf.

By the way, now that I have the 4th Crusade under my belt, do they have an approximate date for the .pdf release?

PDF's are generally released 2-3 months after a given book has come out. This is so book and mortar retailers can get their profits/money in first.
