Phantasmal Killer

Does anybody else find this spell to be a little overpowered? It's a fourth level spell that has a save or die mechanism to it. 4d6 damage even if you make the save.

No, I don't find it any more powerful than several comparable spells of lower level, such as sleep which does not even give a save.

Yep, but then again I like being able to kill PC's. Which is balanced by the fact that I allow Raise Dead, etc... to bring them back so they can be killed again.

It is a powerful spell, but I also do not think that it is too powerful by any stretch of the imagination.

One of the COOLEST aspects to C&C is that the wizard is a force to be feared. Ever since the game came out and we realized the power in the wizard, we have played up the aspect of the dangerous wizard. In our games, wizards are seen as dangerous and individuals not to be triffled with. This has been the single largest boon to actual roleplaying I have seen in the games I run and play in, in many, many years to fantasy RPGs.

I LOVE THE C&C WIZARD!!!

Yep, makes PC throw an entire Fireball amulet into a waterfall "just to make sure" a NPC wizard doesn't cast a spell.
