C&C is awesome... I am converting every character of 3.5

Hi everyone!

I have discovered Castles & Crusades and I have to say that is a wonderful product. Old and new at the same time.

I am converting every character that I have in the 3.5 folder (I mean a real paper folder ) in C&C stats... It is a pity that the 4th Edition Character Sheet has not been put on the website like a downloadable .pdf file...

I have found problems with the rules about encumbrance and sometimes I have to convert weapons like the two bladed sword in a more classic two handed fighter with two longswords.

Since I neglected to say so in my earlier response - welcome! And the "old and new at the same time" is exactly what really cemented C&C's place in my gaming when I discovered it a couple years ago.

A lot of folks here have posted various ways to bolt the aspects of 3.5 they've liked onto C&C, so if you have a chance fire up the search function and try hunting for what you're interested in. And the sticky post with Internet resources is still valuable, despite the dead links.

Here's to many happy years Crusading!

Welcome to the forums!

Just use 3.5 encumbrance rules and you should be all set.

For double-sided weapons, just use C&C's two weapon fighting rules or make up your own. A simple -6/-6 penalty that is offset by a character's DEX mod, and by another 2 if the off-hand weapon is a light weapon or the weapon is designed for two-weapon attacks, would work.

I give all characters with DEX as a prime Weapon Finesse, so long as the weapon is a finesse weapon.

Thanks Perkins! I have yet "transformed" the double-swords in two simple longswords. The rules for a two-weapons fighting in the C&C PHB will be absolutely fine
Also, I searched for some double weapon in the equipment list of C&C and all in all I found only the staff... you have some other ideas?

Most double-weapons I can think of come out of 3rd edition (orcish double-axe, dwarven urgrosh, dire flail, gnomish hooked hammer and double-bladed sword).

I'd probably scale back the damage for double-weapons (to 1d6/1d6) from 3rd edition if you're not using feats.

Good call IMO I doubt they will be missed.

A little late, but welcome to the Crusade!!

I hope you enjoy your stay joe. The folks here, as you can already see, are a pretty good lot and if you have any questions I'm sure we'll be more than happy to help you out.

I like the encumberance rules from C&C, but my players are a little intimidated by them, so we went with the d20 ones instead. I agree that feats are definintely not necessary and aren't missed at my table.
