targeting specfic areas in combat

Post by western watcher »

Are there any rules for targeting specfic areas of an opponent in combat?
Scream and charge is not a tactic.

No. You'd have to house rule something if you wanted. There is also a set of dice running around that I saw that randomly rolls hit locations.

Also, a "hit" isn't necessarily a hit...

From time to time I use this 12-sided die that has hit locations on them. Since there are no critical hits by the book in C&C, when we first started playing we used a rules for this hit location die.

*Roll a natural 20, and than roll the hit lcoation die. There were various, basic effects based on each location. The CK would roll randomly or choose what would happen to each location depending on situation.
Head: Double damage / blinded / deafened / stunned / -1d3 CHA (temp) / -1d3 WIS (temp) / -1d3 INT (temp)
Arms: -1 AC if shield arm / -1 to hit if sword arm / -1d3 STR (temp)
Body: CON check or MAX damage / -1d3 CON (temp)
Legs: -1d3 DEX (temp) / -10 base movement

We gravitated away from this method because we were playing out of the C&C White Box and crits were pretty devestating, plus this method favors enemies criting PCs. Though from time to time, I'll break out one of these effects should the nat. twenty come up. Ooh, the drama.
