Count me in!

Post by nakkers »

Hi all,

I just received my C&C PHB from my my not so local game store and consider that I hold in my hands the Holy Grail of the RPG world, thanks primarily to these boards! Your positive comments and overall helpful attitude really persuaded me to try this out.

I have played D&D since the old basic set (red box) and have since dabbled in D&D 3e, 3.5e, d20 stuff, LOTR by Decipher, Conan RPG, etc. Too many rules make for a long and uninspiring game! I see the light! Bring on the crusade!

My plan is to play the Age of Worms adventure path using C&C rules and will keep you posted on our impressions of the game. Then I will convert MERP, LOTR, and Conan to C&C campaigns, Savage Tide, Ptolus, Excalibur...aargh there is not enough time!

Glad you've seen the light. Welcome to the Crusade!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

C&C is like the ONE ring... One ring to rule them all, one ring to bring them all and one ring to use them all (modules)! or something like that...

Welcome to the Crusades !!

One book to rule them all,

one book to find them,

one book to bring them all,

and to the crusade bind them.

I have a very good Conan - C&C conversion, not written by me. If interested, email me at serleran [at] gmail period com. Might save you the conversion process.

Well, we finally played our first game using C&C on Friday and Saturday this past weekend and loved the game! Combat was quick but not boring, adjudicating on the fly was a snap, and we almost finished the first adventure in the Age of Worms adventure path. It had taken numerous sessions to get less than half way using 3.5 rules.

I am fully converted! Join the Crusade and get back to great role playing.

You'll also find that off the cuff adventures are easier than even AD&D was. I have run full sessions with no notes and just seeing what happens and there were no issues at all.

Thats the truth. Many nights I open the module and don't look at t again until the session is over. Very smooth.

nakkers,

I'll be in your shoes shortly. I am awaiting my copies of the PHB and M&T, and already working on a campaign idea.

A belated "hail, and well met" to you, goodly sir.

Ah, two great stories from nakkers and artemis. Great to hear the game went so well, especially in the Age of Worms campaign (a great campaign BTW). I look forward to hearing mroe about it if you would be so kind, nakkers.

The Crusade is strong in these knights.

What do you like about it? I'm curious, as I have all the Dungeon issues of the adventure path. I hear it is more Greyhawk than Shackled City was, as that previous adventure seemed less Greyhawk and more "shoe-horned in" to the setting as it were.

I'll be running Age of Worms some time next year, so I've converted the adventures ahead of time (with some input from Gnarley Bones on the Dragonsfoot message boards, who converted some of the early adventures to AD&D).

The one thing to watch out for is XP. If you use the C&C XP system as written, your characters will never keep up, as 3E characters advance about three to five times faster. With that in mind, I converted the adventure path to run from 1st to 10th level. In the high level adventures, I converted the new creatures by cutting their HD in half, by reducing character levels appropriately, and by stripping the templates off of the creatures. Obviously, I'll tinker with it more as I go on, based on the actual performance of the party.

Age of Worms is more Greyhawk then Shackled city for sure, but the material presented is more "modern" Greyhawk then old-school. In the Age of Worms, you certainly won't find any "Gygaxian" Greyhawk content.

That is not to say that Age of Worms is bad, actually I think that the writers did a good job with a fairly detailed plot, while remaining action-centric. I like the relationship and machinations of the Ebon Triad. This brings Kyuss fully into the modern Greyhawk campaign world in a memorable and very exciting way.

I'm expanding the Church of the Ebon Triad in a big way into a future campaign that I may run.

The articles also create some very exciting new, and twisted baddies too.
