Gencon Indy

by Troll Lord
Early this year I announced that we were not going to Gencon, planning on putting attention in other projects. As it turns out those projects are going smoothly on their own and we are bringing in some more outside help to get us through them.
What this means is that we have the time and resources to make it to one of our favorite conventions: Gencon.
TLG will have a booth at Gencon Indy this August 5-8. Our booth is a corner booth, #1735, directly behind Wizards of the Coast...well 2 booths behind. Davis and I will be in attendance for certain. Davis is slated to run at least two C&C games. Eric Piper and his brother will also be on hand running the C&C tournament.
Fat Dragon Games invited us to join forces with him at Scotty Brew Pub to celebrate the show so be sure to check out the fancied menu from TLG and the brew from FDG.
Its late in the year and the Gencon book is printed, so be sure to help us spread the word!

Great to hear that the Trolls will be at GenCon. I was wonderin' who the hell I was going to bother that weekend. Now Tullis is partially off the hook! Trolls get some love too.

This thread should be renamed "Gen Con ENVY" cause I know I'm not the only one that would kill or die to go!!

I'm right there with ya, hoss. I'm on an every-other-year schedule for GenCon, due to it being a hefty hit to the ol' budget, so I'll have to wait till 2011. Glad to see the Troll are going after all, though!

Awesome news! My brother and I will be running the tourney mod, and possibly some pick up games for anyone interested. My brother and I will be there Wed. night for the party, so that should be way cool. Last year Davis, Steve, and I downed some brews and talked old boot camp stories. Good times!

Well, you all have fun in Indy. I'd go, but I'm heading to Little Rock in a week or so for Troll Con.

I was back-and-forth about GenCon and finally decided that if the Trolls wouldn't be there I wouldn't go, either.
Now that you've changed your mind, I don't know anymore.

Thank god! I thought I was going to have to drink all that beer by myself!
You guys going to be there Wednesday night? We'll probably go to Rock Bottom in hopes that they're still doing $2 Drafts all day...

Great to hear! You guys sold me on C&C in '09, and we've been playing it ever since, so natch, I was really looking forward to hitting your booth again and taking part in a C&C event to boot!
I'm pretty fortunate that I'm a local here in Indy, so getting to Gen Con is all about swinging the badge price. I'm really sorry for those of y'all that won't be able to attend, though. This is always my favorite time of year, and missing out would make me pretty violently sick.

Welcome to the Crusade, Agro!
Yeah, living in Indy would sure be nice. I was there for the first time last year and I thought the city was awesome. Plus, having a 15-minute drive from house to GenCon would be pretty damn sweet, too.

Alas, I will not be able to hang with you Troll Dudes and Friends of the Troll on Wednesday night at GenCon, but the rest of the weekend IS ON! How the hell do I get into one of those swanky Davis Chenault C&C games?

I was much relieved to see the Trolls will be there...
More so, because I am part of a group of about 12-14 gaming friends that make our annual pilgrimage (though that was a great joke when GC was in Milwaukee at M.E.C.C.A.). This year I have an opportunity to run a game for the group on Wed., and have chosen to use an old school TSR module, thinking probably one written by Gary, or at least closely tied to Greyhawk. And, I have of course opted to use the C&C rules, which will be a first for all of the others. Haven't had a chance to run for the locals yet, we had been mostly wargaming, W40k and WFB, though I prefer WFB of the two, board games, and sci-fi rpg's, Star Wars d20 and right now Dark Heresy. I want to get them to try StarSIEGE as well, I think the system is great.
I am really hoping to make some converts, I know of at least two that will probably gain much interest, and a few more that will hopefully pick up and spread the joy in their regions. To prep them I've pointed them to the quick start rules, I think I'll also send them the link to the Old School Primer.
Now I'll be a really happy camper if I see a tome with three big letters on it...
Oh, and Fields of Battle... I think I can use this war game as a way to induce some of the wargamers into C&C... "Hey you know, you can improve your hero characters through some questing..." And if once I have them I can figure out how expand this to the StarSIEGE environment for planetary combat as well, then I hope I can get them to kiss GW goodbye...

I'll be there. I'll stop buy the booth like I did last year.
