Hey all,

I'm considering getting into C&C. I'm 35 and used to play AD&D once in a while back in college and tried D&D 4e recently. I hated it. I felt like I was playing an MMORPG and constantly being told how to design my characters to "max" them out. Since I don't have any RPG friends in the area, the thought of playing online sounds fun. So a) is it "newb" friendly and b) does it work out well? I'd really like to give it a try so long as people are patient and it's not a waste of time.

I am a bit older than you, but was in exactly the same boat 2+ years ago. I found an online C&C option that suits me well.

Many online players use free programs like MapTools and Skype to play.

Some of us use more expensive options like Fantasy Grounds II.

I'm sure it's all good. The most important thing is finding a group who's style and company you enjoy-- nothing new about that.

When looking for an online game make sure to include your time zone and the days/times you're available.

I've got a new bi-weekly Sunday night game starting soon: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=10897. I'm specifically gearing it to newbies to C&C and online games.

I have been running an online C&C game for 4 years straight as of this month, so yes, it is completely do able. We use SKYPE and Maptools.
