Gary has kindly agreed to help us with some things as long as we don't bog him down with too much. I am goint to try to communicate with him by e-mail so that he can respond in his own time.

We should be courtious about this and not over burden him.

Let's talk about demoing.

I think we need to work up a demo kit that can either be downloaded or purchased cheaply. This would be a Scoiety Product and would include an introductory adventure, tips for a beginning demo, and other things like game history and such for hand outs to players and store owners.

Perhaps we could work up a demo program with TLG where after X number of demos are done a sheet with players and such can be turned in and the demoer possibly recieve a special discount or gift from TLG.

Thoughts?

Officers: We still need to get our first meeting squared away and I was wondering if we need to have a seperate thread for people wanting to join.

Where has Brian been?

The C&CS meeting, as I assumed, would wait until Serl gets back, since he is our direct point of contact with TLG.

As for demo kits, this is exactly what we need to get demos up and running for local game stores. As for discounts or prizes or whatever, do the officers or people who WANT to run C&C games actually need this? I don't think there needs to be motivation for us or other members to run games beyond the good feeling we get for spreading the Crusade. However, maybe internally we'll need to come up with a reward system if such a thing is warrented by officers of the C&CS.

Brian... he seems to be one of those "come and go" guys. He's either here all the time or dissappears for short stints. As for what he's doing to consolidate or database the rolls, that is unknown.

Serl, was wanting me to get something together for when he gets back. So I was doing just that.
I don't think 'prizes' for demos would be needed but I do think it would be a nice perk.

I'm thinking that the recently previewed Free RPG Day thing could be a good start for a demo package, and will bug Steve about it in a few. I also have some knowings of Brian's ups, and they are mostly down (I won't go into detail) which leaves that part of the Society in a state of flux, but we can try to work around it, and focus on other things.

As for what, and how, the Society officers meet... I propose something easy to use, free, and simple. I would like to not have people install stuff they don't like, so something that is "multi-platform" is probably best... is Trillian still around?

Agreed! (even though I haven't seen it...)

Sure is and works great! Trillian

I'd love to join in the C&C Society as well. I tried contacting the Trolls about this months ago, but never heard anything back. Let me know what I can do to help out.

So is Trillian the medium then?

Are any of the officers going to be at LGGC3? That would seem to be the best place to have a sit down. Or what about GenCon?

Trillian allows you to converse on most of the excisting networks via a single app.

Yahoo, MSN, IRC, ICQ, AIM, etc... very handy

Be aware, however that with Trillian, you still have to all be using the same 'messenger' service. In other words, you all still have to be either on AIM, or Yahoo, or MSN, or whatever. Trillian does not allow AIM to talk to Yahoo...

It used to. That was why I liked it... it was a true multi-platform messenger. Or, maybe its just that it allowed all the stored contacts to be in one place. Been a few years since I used it last.

As far as a Society officer meeting at a con... if it can happen, that'd be good.

I'm not going to be at LGGCIII or GenCon, due to finances.

It does keep all the contacts in one list, and brings up all your IM windows within tabs of a single panel. But it's never allowed you to use one medium to talk to another (trust me on this; I've been using it almost daily for 6 years or so).

I think I can swing the finances but with it being on Fathers Day weekend I'm out due to prior commitments. Gen con is right out of my finances though.

How would everyone feel about meeting in Little Rock one weekend?

Hmm We seem to be slowing down here. We need to rally before this fizzles again.

It has slowed, but not fizzled. I need to get the stuff from Brian since he's not been around (there are reasons, and I won't go into them,) and I need to get Steve to make his announcement (not happening until he's ready). But, we can still do stuff. I'll try to get the website info from Steve before LGGC (not likely) so we can start on that end.

Anyone know how to do a webring? I think the Society page should be the focal point of that. We also need to start getting some webbies for others to use, like banners and the like. I can't do that, because my skillz are sucky.

What about demo packages? We should decide what goes in them, and how they are made available. I'm thinking pdf, but then we need a way to track how many people are getitng it and using it, because I'd like to reward people who go the mile and spread the Crusade...

Do we want an ongoing article in The Crusader? What should it be about? Who wants to write it?

Are we interested in local cons (I know I am)? Listed by region (ie, midwest, northeast, northwest, eastern Europe, and the like)... if so, who wants to look into how these things work, and the logistics behind making it happen? I'm thinking all of them are called something obvious, like Crusadercon UK or Crusadercon MW, but we have to really make sure we know what we're doing and start small. This means finding people in the same geographical area and making notices of stuff available to them. Can anyone do that via a website (that is, have something like a Frappr map that only displays people in your general area, like, say, 250 miles?)

We have to pick something, one thing, and do it... get it done, and then move to the next thing. Where would you like to start?

This has interest for me. I was also thinking about doing something with metaregions like the RPGA does with Living Greyhawk. For example, Missouri could be it's own region with events and it's own con . Or, on a bigger scale we could have midwest, south, east and west divisons similar to the baseball league divisons.

If I can scratch up enough people around me I have a place in mind for meets and demo work.

Also I had an idea based off the original C&CS where their world map was based off locations in the real world. This also became the basis for Greyhawk in later years.

The Society could have it's own setting if you will. Each region could be developed and the players of that region, participate in adventures in that part of th "Society World." Yeah, that's a lot of work but sounds cool.

I agree that a webring would be a great rally point, but i to have NO skill in that (heck this is the first forum I've ever been on)

PDF demo packages sound like a good idea also. It looks like my next job will be the Ops NCO & I'll have alot of computer assets on hand so I should be able to build PDFs fairly easy (that is assuming a few things on my end)

I'll be heading to NW Fl soon so I've no idea on the health of gaming there. The local "cons" sound good in small scale and will be a great building block.

I've got some pages in a few webrings...

Here is the Webring Directory

Another option is to make a webring via the Dragonsfoot Web Rings

Ok, been a while since I posted down here. Cool that you know how to do that stuff. I'll ask Steve soon (hopefully by the weekend) about getting the access to the Society site, and then we can start tinkering with it. However, no one has mentioned i they know how to do the map thing... if that can be done, it would rock the socks off a lame mutilated goat... so, umm, yeah. Anyway, I haven't forgotten, and I hope some of you are still willing to help. The Society needs you!

This is a very interesting idea. I'd love to see this developed.

Also, I want to join the Castle & Crusade Society....does it still exist?

Yes, The Society still exists, albeit in a form of limited exposure. I'll try to get Steve to make his announcement sometime soon, but won't be likely until after GenCon.

I would suggest forming small local societies to later be incorporated into the overall C&C society.

I follow you. I think we need a seperate thread for those wanting to join the society and for those of us working on reorganising at this point.
