C&C Society Facebook Page
C&C Society Facebook Page
There was already a broader "fan C&C Society" facebook page, but now there's also a more official one, in that it's tied to us (the officers) and will have info dissemenated on it more readily.
Of course you must be on Facebook,
at which point the address is:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/grou ... 425&ref=ts
Thanks to Serl for setting this up!

As soon as I see them join, they'll be added to the Officers section, and made admins.
And, I don't have the link for the other one, so I just decided to make it new... and fill in some details which mnay or may not have been missing. Remember, when the other was started, some of us (like me) could not get Facebook to work.

Hehehe... I was just having a bit of fun there. Maybe this is another thing that will get me visiting facebook a bit more often then I do right now.

Why does the society need a facebook page? Personally I find facebook one of the most irritating things about the internet, this constant need for people to tell me they just ate dinner, or walked their dog. The society already has its own web page and its own forums. Why are we dividing our attention with another site with the same information? I have no desire to create a facebook account, so now do I have to constantly worry I'll miss something society-related, because someone put it on facebook but not on the official forums/website? Can someone explain the need for this? Thanks.

No one will miss anything - it's just another mode for reaching people. Won't be anything there that doesn't 1st appear on these boards, the Domesday boards, the official site or by email from me, the High Squire.
But lots of people are using this, and increasing the overall visibility of the Society is important. Facebook can be very effective as some people have made it their primary internet tool for communication.
If you're not interested in being on Facebook, no need to join - it's not a Society requirement and never will be.

Here's a reason... for someone who 'likes' to stay connected, it's far easier to get Facebook updates on your Cellphone than it is to log in and check out the news on a forum interface on one.
I don't do facebook much but it's a networking tool which can be just as valid as any other. Besides, when the Squire of the Society has to send the email to smaller groups of people within the society because the email list is too large, putting a quick note via something like this inviting people to check out the site, forums, or facebook might be a lot more practical.
Just saying...

Also, it shows an interest which may be impossible otherwise. Is it "required?" No. Are forums? No. Is the Society itself? No. But, anything that be used to promote is generally an idea worth pursuing.

And not all of us change our status every time we scratch our ass.
