Attention Society Members (or those waiting to hear from me)

Ok, here's the plan:

I'll have time tomorrow to answer e-mails and compile the rest of my data. When that's finished, I will send the Society an e-mail. I will post here, at DF, and at Raven's Keep when that e-mail is sent.

When that is done, if you do not receive the e-mail and you have sent in your registration to the Society, you can let me know and I'll re-enroll you.

I will also be sending targeted e-mails to some folks to gather some data that I'm missing.

Once we've gone through all of that, work on the Domesday Book can begin. I'll open things up to submissions. I plan on it being a quarterly web publication, but if I have the time, and enough submissions, I may put together special editions.

I *will* be drawing upon the community spirit we enjoy as Crusaders for some help with this endeavor. The last thing I want is for this to burn me out and for it to be short-lived. My vision is for this gaming enclave to be close-knit, produce some great material, and act as resources for each other.

And maybe have a few beers in Lake Geneva or Indy one of these years.
The Domesday Book will contain:

- A roster of all C&C Society members, listed alphabetically by state.
The aforementioned e-mail that I am going to send will spell out exactly what information will be listed. You will have the opportunity to opt out of listing any or all of your information if you wish, at that time.

- A selection of articles submitted by Society members.
Only Society members may submit articles. Rules regarding submissions will be made available soon. I'm looking to work with Steve and TLG regarding an article contest, where the best articles appear in an issue of the Crusader and the authors are awarded some prize. The details will be forthcoming when they are finalized. Articles may consist of short adventures, supplemental rules, artwork, game-related commentary, reviews, campaign journals, convention reports, and things of that nature.

I'm sure TLG will host the issues of the Book as they are produced for download, but until that is confirmed, it will be sent as an e-mail attachment.

SO:

Be on the lookout for a e-mail this weekend.

Are some of Society members barred from participation in the contest? I've got some ideas I would like to see made official, but cannot do so as a "fan."

I'm not sure about the details of the contest, yet, but there will have to be some groundrules for eligibility. I'll have to talk to Steve about that, and I'll make sure I post when I know more.

The E-mail has been sent!

If you did not receive this email, you need to notify me at ccsociety@gmail.com.

64 people on my mailing list had e-mail addresses provided, but they were not valid and the mailing was returned to me. If you have group members enrolled that did not receive this e-mail, have them e-mail me!

All invalid or missing e-mail addresses will cause those members to be removed from the rolls on Halloween, as I automatically generate the mailing list and I won't have it cluttered up with inactive data.

Thank you!

As the C&C Society is now running with it's shiny new domain, website and improved operating status, look here again for updates as they are made by Serleran and myself (hey Fiff, hope you don't mind us picking up on this thread as it is already here!)

What we will do in the future is post major announcements here, on the News or Events pages of the site at www.cncsociety.org, and beginning in maybe the early part of next month in weekly email updates so all can be assured of getting them (I think at the C&C forum at DF as well).

First Society Contest Still Running!

Sept. 16, 2008 - In the thread accessed via the link below, when you post, you are to write a description (and only a description -- please no game stats, but you can imply it such as "Cleve is a muscular dwarf, spending days secluded in the stench of his forge where the smoke makes even his deep beard seem lively...) for the item, person, monster, or thing which has been mentioned by the poster above you -- at the end, you provide something for the next poster to follow. Please provide some idea of what the thing is that is being described, in case it is easily confused or could be construed as something you did not intend -- ie, if "curse of Malado" is a disease, say so, so the next person does not think it is a spell.

Once there are 100 posts (that are actual replies), Staff will decide a winner, and the winner will receive something. The top 15 will be entered into whichever Domesday Book is released when we have enough entries to consider.

There are no restrictions to number of entries, but if one person (or a small cadre of them) are dominating (ie, 3 people with 90 posts between them), the contest will be extended so everyone has a chance and not just those who got there first, and got there often. Also, there are no rules forbidding Staff from entering, but should a Staff member get placed in the Top 15, I, and I alone, will decide the order to make it fair and prevent "personal favoritism." This means I am not allowed to compete.

Man, I'd love to be there, but it's football season and Mrs R is helping out with the band again this year, so I have to go to the games. Now if it is an away game and it is too far for me to take the truck, I'll be there.
