Summer 2010 Society Update from the Squire

Greetings this Summer 2010 to all C&C Society members!

It has been some time since I was able to do a Society update, but here's what's happening:

The Society Rolls are again up to date, and if you are new you should be receiving this email and should see your name now on the Rolls at the Squire's Corner at www.cncsociety.org.

Eric and Jared Piper will be running a C&C Society tournament, our 2nd, at this year's GenCon Indy. For those who are going to GenCon, be sure and look up the event - there may be a few spots still open!

The Society will also be present at Troll Con with TLG, and yours truly will be running 1 or 2 open games of C&C there during the three days of Troll Con (July 23-25, 2010).

The Harbinger's Varient box is AVAILABLE for Society Members who wish to demo C&C at area events, gamedays, cons, etc. Info on this is located at:
http://www.trolllord.com/cnc/8122.html

If you are interested in this, you need to contact Kim Hartsfield at:
kim@trolllord.com

There are 2 other things happening that should be of interest to Society members:

Kim is looking into the organization of a LIVING C&C CAMPAIGN (just in the initial thought stages). He is looking for feedback on this on the TLG forums on the following thread:
http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... llordgames

Robert Doyel, better known as the esteemed Serleran, is looking to utilize the very soon to be released "Fields of Battle" to generate a collective online combat for "dominance" of an online virtual Society world, and has started a thread on this at:
http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... llordgames

These are both endeavors which could really kick-start some interactive C&C and gaming experience between Society members, so check them out!!

Lastly just a word on former projects - the sad reality is that efforts to produce a regular ezine, which had culminated in previous two years in several Domesday Books, just haven't been able to continue. Yours truly had to step aside, and Eric Piper is also fairly overloaded with real life and those GenCon endeavors he is undertaking. The truth is that it is just very difficult to put the many, many days and weeks of effort needed to produce something of quality for free, especially in an online world where there's so many other avenues for people. It's been a year and we weren't able to do a DD V, and for that (and to those who submitted material) we are sorry. This endeavor must come to a close, unless there is a Society member who wishes to attempt to take it over.

But the Society goes forth, and as you can see much is still happening! This summer is seeing several new projects coming to fruition over with the Trolls, not the least of which is the release of Monsters & Treasure of Aihrde, Fields of Battle immenently, Harvesters, and upcoming projects like the latest A module (A7), Robert Doyel's Engineering Castles, and, of course, the long anticipated Castle Keepers Guide - be sure and check the latest on all of this over at www.trolllord.com.

The Domesday was an important chapter in the life of today's incarnation of the Castles & Crusades Society. As an officer of this group, I make the following offer:

Supply me with all the material intended for volume V and previous volumes. I will then edit (or re-edit as required), and lay the material out in a single volume compilation which will include the never-before seen material. A few extra pieces of C&C goodness may also make an appearance in this volume. Despite the additional resources I will pour into this project, it will be free. All rights are retained by the original writers and artists to whatever was contributed.

Best Regards,

Baron Moriarty

High Warden of the Society
