Favorite Online Print RPG Store

Post by Piperdog »

Ok, you may be saying "P-dog, you jerk, you're suppose to support your local brick and mortar game store!" Well, I wish I could afford to, to be honest, but my local game store has little selection, except for some 4e and Pathfinder, and everything is at retail....always....and I just can't justify the cost.

Online, however, I can get some hefty discounts. I was wondering where you guys go online to get some killer deals. Any suggestions?

Lately, I shop at Superhero Game Land (stupid name, good prices) http://www.superherogameland.com/ Awesome selection and crazy discounts. Nice selection of C&C stuff.

CCG Armory isn't bad.http://www.ccgarmory.com/

And theres always FRP Games, which everybody knows. Prices are not as discounted as, say, Superhero Game Land, but they have an incredible selection of stuff.http://www.frpgames.com/

I use frpgames, nobleknight, and direct orders from Reaper and the Troll Lords of course. [And every few years and find something to buy from Flying Buffalo directly just to make sure Rick is still out there working...]

I have always had good luck with Noble Knight Games, and I order all my C&C stuff directly from the Trolls.

Our local store only carries WoC products and some Mongoose stuff these days. They are willing to special order though, I've just found it easier to order on-line.

I'd have to say RPGNow, though I'll by right from the publisher if they have their own e-store.

Can't support my FLGS because it doesn't support more than four games, three of which are miniatures wargames.

I get a lot of things online. Minis I get from either Megaminis or GFI (they have some of the old Heritage Dungeon Dwellers that I like). If Reaper has something I like I usually get it at the local game store as they carry a decent stock of minis. I'll check out ebay as well as buy direct from some of the small publishers.

C&C comes straight from the source!!

Noble Knight tends to be on the high end of expensive for many items, but there are some good deals to e found there at times, and its always worth looking at. They have phenomenal customer service, too.

I also like The Dragons Trove. They do not have the selection that others, like NKG have, but they are nearly always cheaper, in just as good condition (or better), and have excellent customer service.

If I want something specific for a game and that game is in-print, I go to the publisher. Chaosium is pretty good and TLG is great.

Beyond that, I typically would buy something from a trusted eBay dealer or someone on a forum that I frequent, such as folks from here, Dragonsfoot, or The Acaeum.

Ebay is awesome for rpg stuff. I actually do get a lot of stuff on there. When I got back into Rolemaster collecting, I kicked off my new collection with a huge lot from ebay.

Amazon

That SuperheroGameland you linked is pretty impressive, though. Bookmarked!

I have also ordered from CCG Armory, even though they are pissing me off right now, they sent me the wrong Solomon Kane book (sent me Foes instead of Worlds) and are taking an awful long time to issue me a return label, etc... I sent them a reminder yesterday and they have yet to respond. Its already been a week.

I have also ordered from FRP Games and Noble Knight.

I order from Paizo directly every month, and often buy stuff on sale from them, like they still have the Hamunaptra boxed set for $5 from Green Ronin.

I order directly from the Trolls, always.

I still buy from eBay every once in a while.

I definitely have bought directly from members of various message boards.

I have also bought directly from Cubicle 7, Green Ronin, IPR, and several other companies upon occasion. Just depends upon the deal.

Once you break that addiction you'll be surprised how much it frees you up to appreciate the few things you DO buy.

Although the FLGS is my first choice...

For new stuff, Amazon is hard to beat.

For C&C, I was trying to support my FLGS, but since they are still having problems getting stuff in, I might go direct with them. I checked Alliance Distributors website and it's NYA (not yet arrived) so I can't really blame my FLGS.

For harder to find D&D stuff, I always check ebay or RPG Marketplace. I really like the RPG Marketplace's prices - their prices are lower or comprable to Noble Knight in many cases. I also use The Dragon's Trove but their prices have gone up some over the last few years. But I always check the local stores that sell used and out of print stuff first, to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

I often use Amazon. Lately I've been looking at CoolStuffInc - they seem to have good prices but with a limited selection. Troll and Toad is a good store and probably the best spot for minis in addition to books. Nobleknight has a decent used collection although their prices on new stuff is a little high. FRP games is good with middle of the road prices, but is in California so shipping takes a bit longer to the east coast.

I'll check out the other stores listed - always looking for a good place to shop!

I've bought a good bit from Troll and Toad. They have their own web page as well as an eBay page (the prices are some times cheaper at one or the other).

But, yeah, I order a lot from Amazon and eBay.

I usually use NKG, even when a product can be found cheaper at Amazon I still use NKG. It is a store dedicated to gaming and I'd rather throw money in support to them than a interweb superstore that happens to sell RPG stuff.

RPGShop

They are physically located in Milwaukee, but I've only ordered from them online. They always throw in free swag with every order. The don't offer a complete line of C&C stuff, but they have 7 books right now.

I use Noble Knight. Dependable, dedicated to gaming as DD said, and a WI company (where I am) so worthy of support. Sometimes slightly pricier, but dependable service and very user-friendly.

I'm trying as well

I like Noble Knight Games and Troll and Toad, but I prefer to buy from (somewhat) local gameshops- usually get a better price at the shops.

I have never bought anything off of ebay.
