Castles, Crusades, and Cthulu

The second major story arc in my C&C campaign has begun, and it features a slightly "Lovecraftian" theme, not to mention a series of classic quests for powerful relics. You can check out the first in the new story arc here (and, for those interested, I'll be posting the layout of the Bone Sanctum soon).

In what will be either one of the high points or low points of my CKing experience, I actually reduced one of the players to tears. Or rather, she started crying after she lost a level from a wight. On the upside, the group has really gotten into a nice groove, both when it comes to action and roleplaying. Check out the developing story (and Violet's trauma) here:

I hate it when players cry. Not in a good way either.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

The first of the twelve artifacts has been recovered: the Shroud of Skelos. Here's a brief overview of the artifact:
The Shroud of Skelos

Created by the archmage Skelos to assist him in his campaign against the undead, the wearer of the Shroud is invisible to all undead (unless he attacks, in which case the invisibility ends). Moreover, if the wearer has suffered a level loss from contact with the undead and sleeps one night while wearing the Shroud, he is afflicted with terrible nightmares which he must conquer with a successful Wisdom check (CL the number of levels lost). If he makes the check, he regains the level as per a Restoration spell. Only one check can be made per person per week.

You can read the details about their discovery of the Shroud here.

One thing I did love about the session. I play with a group of almost complete novices, and their pure terror and wonder at the discovery of a gelatinous cube (the Roomba of the dungeon) was a sight to behold.

I've been a bit behind with my updates. Here's the latest two installments in my campaign:

The PC's have found the second in their missing artifacts. Finding it was easy, getting out of city they are in is going to be impossible.
