I
Greetings Lords, Ladies and Knights!
We are happy to announce that the Society is taking on a life of its own with more folks joining everyday. This should serve to make the society more lively, particularly when it comes to the Play By Email Game that we all are excited about.
But on to matters at hand. As some of you probably already know we have opened up special forums on the TLG message boards dedicated to Castle and Crusade Society. There are presently three, with plans for a fourth to be added.
The General Forum is for any and all, members and non-members.
The C&CS Players Handbook forum is for designers, playtesters and all around participants. There, we will discuss the coming Rules Light OGL version of the game we all love to play. You must be a member and sign an NDA to participate. The NDA is attached below and will be available on our website in the coming days. Please sign it and send it back to us, after you do, we will send you the password in a private email. You can scan it and send it back or snail mail to Troll Lord Games, PO Box 251171, Little Rock, AR 72225.
The third board is for those directly involved with the layout of the book. Davis and Peter Bradley will be running that forum and you must get permission from him to enter it. So please, unless you have a passion for art, layout, design, or a genuine interest in the forum dont join in. I for one will rarely appear there!
A fourth board is planned for sales and discounts. This board will be for members only of course.
We are still getting the Society organized and into some kind state worthy of your time so please bare (bear) with us.
Regards,
High Lord of the Realm, Coburg the Undying
(or, eh, Steve)

All,
In writing modules for publication we here at TLG quickly found it difficult to do so without a setting. Davis, Mac and I (and Todd to a lesser degree) are more story telling DMs than we are hack and slash, tactic hounds (though watch out for the combats I'll be running at cons). The background, though never elaborate in our modules, nor space filling (a page or two at best) helped set the tone both for the writing and the running of the module.
The world of Erde became the immediate default setting. This is our home brew game world, stamped of course, with the footprint of preivously published setting material. At any rate the response and interest to Erde was such that it generated the [link=http://www.trolllord.com/id113.htm]Codex of Erde[/link] and the map of the world.
As with all TLG products (except perhaps for Winter Runes) the Codex is fairly light on the rules, concentrating rather on the history, culture, languages and what not of world itself. It is very rich in this regard.
What we are presently planning on doing is placing any and all module and adventure material in the world of Erde. Don't be alarmed. Our modules are noted for their ease of placement in any other world, published or homebrew. But we will need to ground our own writing in a setting, and Erde, as it did before, serves as the perfect vehicle.
In this regard, the greatest piece of support material for CCPH will be written by Gygax himself (at his own pace, no release date, etc etc lol). Castle Zagyg of course will be a stand alone, if monolithic adventure setting, placed, well, you all know the answer to that. But we will also build it into the world of Erde. We have tentatively chosen the Gelderland for that greatest of castles.
We of course would like to see the Society members join in support of Erde, that is only natural for a publishing company. In this regard we are offering a huge package deal (see other thread) for the book, map and a host of d20 modules. We are discussing a discount for book and map as most of you have abandoned, or are abandoning d20 in favor of the coming CC storm.
Also, we would like to expand the playing field and let you all become part of the setting creation. The book outlines the histories and cultures of a host of regions, states, and terrain. What it is lacking however are place names for things such as small rivers, forests, towns, ridge lines and the like. Clayton has taken on the huge task of remapping the whole of the world. He is in need of place names. And, as I have mentioned before, this is a time consuming task for one, two or three individuals to take on themselves. Therefore I would like to invite interested members to participate in 'creating' the details of the world.
So long as your a member and have some interest in the setting itself we will consider your submissions. There will be naming conventions obviously, ones that myself, Davis, Mac and Clayton will make sure you follow. If your interested, contact us here or at troll@trolllord.com and let us know.
Steve

Hell all,
I'd like to take a moment to address the group affiliation concept (registering and naming your group), as it has come up several times in private emails
I know that usually DMs serve as the seneschals for most groups. They contact me and get on the mailing list, get directions, download what may need downloading and receive the passwords for various closed boards. That is the way it usually is. Of my own group, only three of us regularly post on the boards, the other 4-5 only do so once every few months.
But so far as the Society is concerned it does have some importance for everyone in the group to be registered. This allows us to know the size of your group and to quickly associate members with their playing group. This way if you want to do playtesting for any of the games in development (not just C&CPH), or demo any games, we can make a quick assessment of how many you are and where. The how many helps us judge any criticisms you have. If its two players we know that it was a small group . . . "Yes Cleaver the Pit worked well with two" . . . if it was 10 players . . . "No Phone Busters didn't work well with ten" . . . but you get the picture.
Also it is just easier for me. When we set up playtesters I can say "Davis Emerald Fire and Shotwick Manor are running Cleaver this week" and he knows roughly who, how many and where.
So if you are part of a group and would like to playtest or demo please take a moment to register your players and give it a name. Keep in mind that some groups, like Stone Creek, haven't given out email address and home address for all their members, but they did all join (though the home address is required for the NDA).
And lastly for those of you on the boards, it does help to fix your signature so we know with whom you are associated.
Thanks and Trollzah,
Steve

Greetings to the Monarch, his Eminence the Arch-Bishop, the Lords Paladins, Artisans, Sages, Their Lordships the Earls and Barons, Nobles, Castilians and Crusaders, Knights, Priestesses, Dames and Ladies!
Well the votes have been tallied and it was a dead tie between Forge of Imagination and Old School for a New Era. Of course the vast majority of you voted for your own slogans that werent even on the list! LOL You must be Trolls as that is about how we do things around here. So after consulting with the King and the other High Lord we have come up with this solution.
These words will be etched into ribbons surrounding the heraldry: Imagination Recreation Fellowship. They best symbolize the Society as a whole I think.
The slogans you chose or choose in the future can be attached to your own individual heraldry or your groups heraldry. Thus feudal rights are maintained in the eyes of King and Church.
Thoughts and comments are welcome.

It is with great joy that we showcase, for the first time, our Societys new Heraldry. You can see it at www.castlesandcrusades.com. Peter Bradley, one of the Courts two artisans, has done a masterful job. When you have a few moments wander by and check it out.
Master Peter has offered anyone in the Society his services, to expand upon the Heraldry for your group or design one new for you. You can find his contact information on this web site http://www.ravenchilde.com/. I think he also does character sketches, but you must ask him about such things.
But our many thanks to the kind Peter for hours of work and diligence!

Greetings to the Monarch, his Eminence the Arch-Bishop, the Lords Paladins, Artisans, Sages, Their Lordships the Earls and Barons, Nobles, Castilians and Crusaders, Knights, Priestesses, Dames and Ladies!
It is with great pleasure that I announce to the Society that Gary Gygax and Troll Lord Games have signed contracts to bring two great products to the table: Castle Zagyg and the Lejendary Adventure Role Playing Game!
Castle Zagyg (or some derivative thereof) comprises the original Greyhawk Castle game notes as they were played in the early days of TSR. Expanded, edited and re-written where necessary, Castle Zagyg utilizes the Castle and Crusade Players Handbook. Needless to say, we are extremely excited in the dens and cannot help but think that the Society had a major part in inspiring the direction of things to come!
TLG will bring these legendary dungeons to the gaming public jointly with the C&CPH as early as next Spring.
Further, beginning this Spring TLG assumes the publication of the Lejendary Adventure Role Playing Game, a fantasy game system by the creator of Dungeons and Dragons. We are retooling the publication schedule, launching the line with an LA primer in classic boxed set form, with Rule Book, Monster Book, Character sheets and dice! Playtesting for this may begin as early as next week and all Society members are encouraged to join in the fun.
In a minor note I have updated the C&C webpage with the lists of the Society. These reflect the size and rank of the various Lords and Ladies of the Society. Take a moment and look it over, it can be found at http://www.castlesandcrusades.com/lords.html
I have commissioned Peter Bradley for a device for my own Society persona, Coburg the Undying Lord of the Red Tower. He began work on it immediately and I am very excited to see it. I encourage all of you to take the plunge, drop him a note and lay out your own heraldy!
And a small comment on the rules: Davis and Mac have been working hard on getting an updated version out. Davis is looking at the end of next week to have it up on the webpage for second round of playtesting .
I would like to take a moment and thank everyone for your interest in this, the main project of a Rule Lite version of the game we love, the hard work, the cross posting and the general good everyone has displayed toward us and the games. The Society has re-inspired both myself, Mac, Todd and Davis and given us a new found purpose and energy. For we are all kindred in our desire to bring out the best qualities of this very great game.
I tip my lance in your honor and the Society! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Lord Coburg, Knight and Constable, to the Monarch, his Eminence the Arch-Bishop, the Lords Paladins, Artisans, Sages, Their Lordships the Earls and Barons, Nobles, Castilians and Crusaders, Knights, Priestesses, Dames and Ladies! Greetings.
Weve updated the C&C website a little, adding the first heraldic device for members. When you have time we invite you to come over and have a look. You can link it from the home page or go directly to it from here: http://www.castlesandcrusades.com/heraldry.html. If you would like Peter to do Heraldry for your lands he can be contacted at: gideon_thorne@yahoo.com.
About a month ago I moved the links for the coming Castles and Crusades RPG. For all those who have signed an NDA and had your entire group sign an NDA and are interested in playtesting or want to demo the game please drop me an email at troll@trolllord.com.
The latest edition of The Seeker should be out later this week. This will be our last issue of the year!
And lastly, my goodly scribe has misplaced some of his notes on the Society (read: my computer crashed). Though I have been able to rebuild the vast majority of what was lost I do not remember which of you was the official Court Scribe. Whomsoever you are, you read and write Latin and translated the Society Moto. If you could drop me an email I would be in your debt.
This day, December 15, 2003.

Greetings.
We've compiled the initial list for the official playtesters for Castles and Crusades. I plan to get with each group, follow their playtesting to date and in the future, track rules, difficulties, level spreads, focus on trouble areas and the like. What follows are fully constituted gaming groups that can play a variety of levels and have already contacted me and signed the NDA.;
Shotwick Manor
Emerald Fire
Minions of Arioch
Stone Creek
Saphire Rune
Southron
Luddville
Knights of the Silver Archway
and
Grubbys Gals.
If your name is not on the list and you want to get your group involved with the official playtesting please give me a shout at troll@trolllord.com (some of you may have slipped through the cracks and have already talked to me but I forgot to add to the list).

Lord Coburg, Knight and Constable, to the Monarch, his Eminence the Arch-Bishop, the Lords Paladins, Artisans, Sages, Their Lordships the Margraves, Earls and Barons, Nobles, Castilians and Crusaders, Knights, Priestesses, Dames and Ladies! Greetings.
It is with tremendous joy that the Lords of the Troll Dens have officially announced the Castles and Crusades Players Handbook as part of our 2004 publishing schedule. In the last few weeks the rules have taken a more defined shape and the designers and play-testers seem to be at last meeting on common ground. To be sure there is much more work to be done. Several of our play-testers and strongest supporters, have voiced deep concerns about the direction of the rules, and we are taking a closer look at the details. So in short, though we have made some major strides, we still have a very long way to go.
Though the game has been announced officially, it has not been solicited for sale in the various channels. So those of you still embattled upon the play-testing fields, fear not, for the game still requires a great deal of input. We will not of course solicit the C&C PH until the final draft of the rules is before us. We hope this will happen in the coming weeks. Until then you will see a variety of announcements issued from the Troll Dens announcing various and sundry items of interest both to the Society and to the general public.
As for the rules themselves we hope that they will go out to all play-test groups this week. They will of course be mailed out. We Troll Lords have slaved many long hours for to make those weapons that yet must be tested on the tourney fields! Trollzah!
In other news, we are looking into publishing a print on demand magazine entitled The Crusader. It will be available only through subscription and our website. If you are interested in paying 2-4 dollars for a bi-monthly print magazine please voice your opinion. You can do so on the boards or via email to me. The Crusader would be a print version of the Seeker with articles from movie reviews to game design, C&C, LA and other various role playing games. We have approached a number of other publishers and society members to write columns for the magazine and of course will do a bit of the writing ourselves as well. Please send over any comments, thoughts or suggestions.
Lastly Davis and Mark are headed out again this week to another convention. This time the trek into the deep east for Dreamation in East Brunswick. If your in the neighborhood please stop by and give them a visit.
This 19th day of January, 2004.

Greetings.
There is much news and many updates, so Ill try to do a simple recap.
Foremost, we will be posting a lengthy product update in the next 24 hours. This will include news on Castles and Crusades, the Lejendary Adventure: Essentials RPG, our d20 line, more, new Necromancer Games material and Erde. Ill post this on the website and the message boards.
In the meantime:
Castles and Crusades is fast taking shape. After the problems with version 2.2 we hit the drawing boards hard and have about finished work on version 3. This should be released for playtesting in the next few days. We seem to have found some level ground and all seem happy with the direction of the game. Peter Bradley has done some wonderful cover work which will be posted in the coming days.
Gary Ggyaxs Lejendary Adventure RPG: Essentials. We are happy to announce that we have acquired a piece of Larry Elmore cover art for this most unique of role playing games. The official announcement for LA will go out on Feb. 5 and the cover put on our webpage for viewing. The rules are being combed through and Mr. Gygax will need to take one more look over and off to the playtesters LA will go.
Tom Whams Planet Busters is tentatively set for a June release and will include new ships (from the original) and more options for combat. Look for info on this project in coming days.
The Crusader: A subscription only magazine is officially born. The Crusader will have a host of varying articles from game design to tips on role playing, from Erde stories to fiction. Designed after classic magazines we hope this one will bring back an even platform for games and the people who play them. Look for this when the C&C PH comes out (this summer).
The World of Erde. We are still working on the redrawn map and plan a host of short setting books called: City Sourcebooks, Dungeon Sourcebooks, Wilderlands Sourcebooks and so forth. All these will utilize Erde as their source. Furthermore we would like to sponsor any local fan based clubs you may have. Also work has begun on the Castle Keepers Guide to Erde which will include new histories, developments and more adventure hooks.
This 5th day of February, 2004.

Greetings.
It is with great heart that I lend myself to this missive. February and March have been months of tremendous activity and much labor here in the Dens. We have finished the company restructuring and managed to get all our lines moving.
The Society continues to grow! With over 300 Lords and Ladies in just these few short months. We welcome one and all. The webpage is horribly outdated and I promise to get all listed as soon as I can. For those folks in and around eastern Kansas and Missouri Davis is in Pittsburgh this weekend at Gorrilla Con. I will be in Las Vegas for the GTS show on the 14-17 and then on the weekend of the 20th in Carbondale Illinois. I would love to see any of you who might make it out to those conventions!
For any of you who need an NDA to playtest or would like to run games at your local cons and need prize support or auction material, or for those who run cons and need prize support and auction material please drop me a post at troll@trolllord.com.
And we are planning a big Castle and Crusade Society get together and meeting for Gencon. For any and all planning to attend please keep an ear, well be posting more on that as the convention draws near.
Project News:
Foremost on the forge is Castles and Crusades. Version 3.1 has been in the hands of the playtesters for some weeks now and reports have been begun filtering back. Much work still needs be done, but we all feel that the main hurdles have been overcome. Trollzah the designers and testers! I would like to personally thank everyone who has been so active on the boards for keeping things moving at a tremendous pace. Even though it may seem at times we are not around, we are and look forward to many more spirited discussions!
The Crusader Magazine is taking its first cautious steps. Weve assigned an Editing Manager and begun to solicit ideas and articles. It should launch with the C&C core books this summer.
Gygaxs Lejendary Adventure is moving ahead rapidly. As march moves on this project and those who support it will get more and more of my attention. We would like to thank those who volunteered to playtest for it as well. This promises to be a brave new start for us.
Other lines, Necromancers and our own d20 are taking shape with a new look for ours and more books for the Lords of the Abyss. And a fifth Gygaxian Fantasy World book is in the works and set for a summer release.
This day the 12th of March.

Greetings.
Foremost, I would like to take a moment and tip my hat to Dave Biggins, one of the Societies earliest members. Dave is shipping overseas soon and will not be able to join in our feast for some many months. My hat is off to you. We all owe you and your fellow soldiers a debt we cannot repay. God Speed. Safe Journey.
As Lord Marshal I am happy to report that Archbishop Gygax has delivered onto me the manuscript for Castle Zagyg, that being the first part of this great endeavor. Comprising the host of his notes from the old campaigns that brought us the game we all love to play. Castle Zagyg will appear in August (gods willing) under the Castles and Crusades banner! Trollzah! Trollzah! Trollzah!
The playtesters are still pounding the earth on the Castles and Crusades rules. I have wonderfully abandoned them and left all that to the Lord Marshal Davis, but I assure you and them, that we are taking their feedback in! We offer our most humble apologies to all Lords and Ladies as this task is monstrous large and has kept us from dutiful responses!
Further from the Archbishop, the Lejendary Adventure: Essentials is moving along nicely. This is to be a boxed game with dice. This RPG is designed for those worthies who love skill based roleplaying!
A CALL TO ARMS
Today, I shall post in the Erde section of the message boards an example of terrain features that must go on the Erde map before Sir Clayton Bunce can bring the world to life with ink and quill. He is a master at his craft, but he must have substance to shape! So if you would and are interested, please stop by the message boards this afternoon, this being the 31st day of March, and look at the format. If you want to flesh out an area let us know. Your name will of course be associated with the region in question forever and anon!
For those who do not know, we are clearing the armory of old material and welcome your plundering! We have a whole new crop of books coming in and most move some of this older material from the racks. http://www.trolllord.com/links.htm
And lastly we would like to have Society feast at Gamefest or Gencon. Voice your approval of where and when!
Good morrow,
Coburg the Undying

We have at last seen the fruit of our long labors. After much discussion and consultation, after many sketches, drafts and finals, the Trolls and Lords have finished the covers for the Castles and Crusades Players Handbook and the Monsters and Treasure book. They have been set out for all to see on our website and the Societys website.
We owe these remarkable covers to Peter Bradley and Davis Chenault for layout and design, and Peter Bradley and Clayton Bunce for the art itself. Many of the Society members were consulted along the way and freely gave their opinions and thoughts (as seems to be the want and desire of our most noble, if boisterous, Chivalry!).
To Peter Bradley in particular we offer our humble thanks and congratulations. Thanks for the hard labor and long hours and congratulations for the simple elegance of the covers. Well Done!

As for the blood and iron of the game itself the forges are ever hot with the labor of many hands. Articulated ideas of the Chivalric host have found their way into the very shaping of what is to come as we Troll Lords have leant our ears as never before to the thoughts of others. This much we can say: the final course of this glorious armament is soon to be laid out and forged and we all shall be girded well for the war, for the Crusade, to come!
A Call to Arms: Official playtest rounds are being run at Kubla Con in San Francisco this coming weekend by our own Steve Willet (bloodymage on the boards). I am of course going to be in attendance at that noble show! Davis treks off to Die Con in St. Louis on the weekend of the 6th of June. If you are in the area of either show, please come by and join us!

Greetings.
Happy Independence Day! Long Live the Republic!
After a rather long absence we have some solid news to report for the Society and its members.
Version 4.18 of the Castles and Crusades Rules set is ready for playtesting...or will be shortly. I signed off on it last night and gave it over to Davis and Mac to look over. Well discuss it on Tuesday evening and release the same day for the playtesters to start hacking away at it. This latest incarnation of the rules is the most complete yet. Weve named it 4.18 for reasons that will be evident soon enough.
Though no solid release date has been set, we have our eyes set on the month of September and assuming the playtesting goes well we think we can make that deadline. We are going to try to release the Monsters and Treasure book as well. Mr. Robert Doyle is hard at work on that text even now.
Castle Zagyg: Yggsburg, written by Gary Gygax will follow the publication of the main rules in short order. The cover of that particular work is available for viewing on the Troll Lord Games web site at www.trolllord.com.
And lastly, for those of you in the neighborhood of Milwaukee on the weekend of July 9, Troll Lord Games will be attending the Gamefest II convention being held there. Casey Canfield and myself are set to run some sessions of Castles and Crusades for you enjoyment and entertainment. Come on by the booth and hang out. A good number of Society members are going to be there, Michael and Elizebeth Stewart, Casey and others.

Greetings.
We have at last launched the Crusader Magazine. If you are interested please subscribe today. I have cut the body of TLGs press release and enclosed it here:
Crusader, the Journal for the Intrepid Adventurer launches in August. The first issues sports a cover by the famed artist, Rowena. Crusader is a bi-monthly magazine that harkens back to the best gaming magazines of fantasy role-playing at the height of the industry's popularity. Crusader will be available through subscription and in select retail outlets. For more information visit the Troll Lord website at http://trolllord.com/crusader.htm.
Crusader will have a number of feature articles, fiction, poetry, humor and art, as well as regular columns. These range from the simple how to columns, to more elaborate studies of historical precedents. In every issue we will specifically showcase articles of interest for Castles and Crusades the RPG, but we will do the same for others RPGs as well. Crusader is going to be something you can read.
Leisure Games, located in London, England will handle all of the Crusaders out of country subscriptions. This includes shipping to Canada (sorry guys, postage rates to Canada have gone through the roof in the past few months, Im not sure why) Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, all of Europe etc etc. Cost should range between 1 and 2 pounds.
All interested should contact us at troll@trolllord.com.

Greetings.
A hearty welcome and well met. It has been nigh on a week since Ive posted you last, but we have some news to report. After much discussion and diligent research we Trolls and some of the Marshals have worked to bring together a special edition of the coming Castles and Crusades RPG. In order to both celebrate this 30th anniversary of role playing and to give Castles and Crusades a face at the great Con this month we are releasing a digest sized box set. This boxed set mimics the original boxed sets that came out in the early 70s. We are of course offering it to all Society members at a discount.
This digest sized boxed set of Castles and Crusades is a condensed version of the game and includes a 36 page players handbook, a 36 page monster and treasures guide and a 20 page adventure. Included are a set of dice and a crayon to fill in the grooves. For those of you old enough to remember, this presentation might feel familiar. A mixture of past, present and future all wrapped into one.
The Castles and Crusades Players Handbook includes four classes (fighter, wizard, cleric and rogue), four races (human, dwarf, halfling and elf), combat rules, turning rules, attribute check rules, spells and even a little advice on running the game. It is, in fact, a complete game and utterly playable as is.
The Castles and Crusades Monsters and Treasure Guide in the nostalgia edition includes about seventy monsters and their vital stats, treasure types and list, special magic items and a bit on how the Castle Keeper should manage these astounding creatures.
The Rising Knight is a twenty page adventure set in tumultuous and dangerous lands where brave adventurers are asked to perform a simple task and find themselves locked in a battle to stop an evil of the most vile kind.
There is also a set of Zocchi dice included in this version. You remember, the type that needs to be filled in with crayon. The crayon is included.
You can of course see the covers and what the dice look like by going to www.trolllord.com
If you are interested in purchasing this edition for the nostalgic in you be sure to get your order in. It is priced at $30.00 BUT Society members have a $5.00 dollar discount. You can call in your order, or do so via paypal, but email Steve at troll@trolllord.com and he will direct you to the proper discounted paypal button. The link is also on our closed message board forums.
The first 300 are numbered and signed. Society members get first crack of course.
The full core rule books should be out in September.
Why this version? It has been 30 years since I started playing, in fact, 30 years ago this summer, I received the box from a soldier via my father (who was his company commander) and ran my first adventure. Steve played Tarzan the Fighter. He played 13 Tarzans the first night. All having died of spider bites. Thus began thirty years of toe to toe fighting between my brother and I. Fighting which has not ended to this day. Though he no longer plays Tarzan.
And finally, I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has held on this long, and contributed in however great or small a manner to bring this project to fruition. I do not know of another company to have offered design privileges to so many. I did not have imagine that so many would stick it out to the end and for that I am truly truly grateful.
Now . . . game.

Greetings.
As to the news of these parts you will be much encouraged to note that great progesses have been accomplished by the Kings host of marshals and squires, earls and barons. The Lords of the Trolls have bent every labor to accomplish great feats of manufacture in the art of the arm of games.
To wit, we are happy to report that the progress of Castles & Crusades is nigh on to finishing. The manuscripts are in the hands of sage advisors who pore over their every word and nuance for strange miscalculations or out and out errors. Soon, by the willingness of the gods, the various manuscripts shall be sent to the binderies, there to assume the final shape of all such tomes. In the meanwhile, for those who wish to feast at the table of the Crusaders the boxed set is still available and all comers are welcome and encouraged.
In other realms we have set ourselves the task of releasing a game most cherished by all those who know the workings of the old wizards. The Planet Busters is a game of great fun, created by the wizards Wham and Ward! It should make is appearance in stores any day soon.
The Crusader, that collection of editorials and printed word, is fast to being finished and should make its appearances by post in the following days.
A CALL UPON THE CHIVALRY OF THE SOCIETY!
You all have broken many lances in the labors of the Society and your courage and your labors have borne fruit in the guise of the role playing game to come. But now I call upon you to break lances in the labors of the Society for another game! Melee! The Castles and Crusades Tournament Board Game has been delivered onto us by the good Marshal Chewning and it is in want of playtesting. So a call to arms! Playtesters! Gather your armors and weapons, mount your steeds and set to break lances with one another yet again. But let the Lords Marshals know and you can be entered in the Melee Lists.
Alea iacta est!

It is with great joy that I announce that the Castles & Crusades Players Handbook has been removed from the Troll Dens to the bindery. Even now they begin laboring over the printing of the book. I am assured that it will be bound and ready to ship even before the yuletide is upon us. And this is wondrous indeed.
After much labor and many delays we have brought together many diverse peoples and created a game that we are very proud of and that we hope you will honor. Many of you have labored long, heartfelt hours over the text and the body of the work and for this we Troll Lords offer up our most sincere gratitude. It is with confidence that I report to you that your efforts and ours have yielded no bitter fruit, but rather a harvest that we all may feast upon.
Let it be so.
I do report with some concern that the book, slated for mid December will not arrive in retail shops until the week after Christmas. So if you are desirous to possess a copy before the yuletide, watch our site for updates and let us know your concerns as we always receive copies in the Dens many days before distribution. We can get them to your local shops or your vert doorstep if need.
We invite you all to come and view the final cover as it is appears on our websit. The goodly artisan Peter Bradley, whom many of you know as Gideon Thorne, has made a truly inspiring piece of art for the cover.
In other news if you have emailed me in the last month and not received a reply please contact me again. A virus has plagued my inbox that I have only now defeated.
Also, those who have enrolled for the play-test of the Castles & Crusades Melee boardgame, look for the rules and cards on Monday next.

Greetings to all on this wintery Christmas eve!
We are at last able to give you the welcome news that the Castles & Crusades Players Handbook has been printed and bound and even now lumbers across the land to shops where such wares are regularly sold. We have them here and many have already received them and even now pore over the text within.
The Castles & Crusades Players Handbook is finished. Let the adventure begin anew!
Many a thanks must go around and congratulations must be given in due order. But lest we forget that there is much more work to be done...both on Monsters and Treasure, the Castle Keepers Guide and much more to come, for let us not forget, the last but certainly not the least, the whole of the long awaited texts of Gygax and Kuntz and the grand Castle of Zagyg!
But for now, may we all be released from our duties, cares and strains and enjoy the season. And my I, Davis, Mac, Todd and all the Trolls be given the grace to wish you a very Merry Christmas. May it, and all your days to come, be filled with much joy of family and friends, of food and laughter and thought for others.

It has been a momentous month and a good beginning for a new year. With the host of new releases, from Castles & Crusades Players Handbook, the Crusader and the Lejendary Adventure RPG, the society has gained a wave of new liege-men and women. So much so that the Commons (ah-hem, the Society web-page) were overburdened and the lord sherif was forced to close them down. They are open once more and we will strive to keep them that way for the future.
Every and all should congratulate themselves on hard playing and testing for the C&C game. It has been met with acclaim and whatever faults it has, can be laid squarely at our door and not yours. Visit the Commons later this week for more monsters, magic and adventures.
With this warm regard comes a slight admonition to the playtesters of the Melee Board Game. Josh and myself have heard not but little from any and all. Come now, drain your glass and let us know your thoughts.
In other news we are organizing the TLG Commons in order to direct you and your liege-men to the support material of the game of your choice. Look to the gray placards on each page for links to supporting material. Also, a small host of C&C, LA and Society webpages are springing up, Ill do my best to make links and attachments available by weeks end. The first Castles & Crusades blog too has gone up, and you can visit it here: http://mythmere.tripod.com. With this in mind we welcome all to come and join us in discussions at one of the many community message boards: Troll Lord Games, Dragonsfoot and Lejendary Adventure.
As the Society grows, please mark that it is a gathering of gamers of all stripes. Whether they play board games or role playing games.

Greetings.
It has been many a long day and night since last we sent forth a missive. Forgive us this, but know that the Lords of the Dens have been hard at work making amends for past deeds of sloth and indolence.
There is much news; and more to come, as the days unfold. But for now, what is news to some, but known to others:
We have found an artist of great worth whose dignity in painting shall grace the covers of the Zagyg books. All seven volumes sport a painting by the esteemed Mr. Jeffrey Jones. Mr. Jones is an icon of the sci-fi/fantasy brand, an artist who has been painting for four decades and more. His paintings are both powerful, subtle and evocative. Jeffrey Jones was a very popular cover artist for fantasy books in the 1960s, 70s and 80s; more recent years have been spent creating beautiful portraiture, in a style that brings to mind the very best of the Viennese Successionist school of the turn of the century. You can view all seven covers in the Dens even now.
It is with joy and sorrow that I report that the 1st issue of the Crusader is sold out. We will keep a few for conventions, but beyond that there are no more to be had or made. On to the 2nd issue!
As the Society grows to 600 members it is becoming unwieldily for the Trolls alone to administer. Soon we will send forth a call to arms for aid from the Lords and the Ladies of the Realm.
We have updated the Armory for those who have such a mind to acquire such books from the Dens. You can see it here at: http://www.trolllord.com/armory.htm
Gatherings!!
There are to be a great gathering of the Society at the Origins Trade Show, Gencon and we think Gamefest as well. Come and join us. Lots of play! In the short term Todd and I are going to Carbondale, IL for the Egyptian Campaign and Davis to Mid-south Con in Memphis on the first weekend of April, 2005. Come and join us!!!

Greetings.
It has been days passing into weeks since last we sent note to you noble folk, but rest assured that our labors have joined yours and all has been spent on these restless games we have all come to love. This summers campaigning season offers many promises and it begins with Hall of Many Panes and Monsters & Treasure.
Long in the offing, Gary Gygaxs very own, Hall of Many Panes is at last in print and available to all the goodly folk of the Society. This is classic gaming by the Archbishop himself! We thank all the many hands that toiled on this project including but limited to the Lady Darlene, who has rejoined the gaming community to help us perfect our craft.
Also, it is with great joy that we bring you the long awaited tidings that Monsters & Treasure has at last joined the armory of the Crusade. The book arrived here on the 23rd, and the first of these manuscripts have already shipped to those of you who paid notice to the Troll Dens. For your support and patience we off our thanks and hope only that the game continues to please your people as it seemingly has to date.
We will be at the Origins Game Expo in Columbus Ohio this coming weekend at booth 1143, in the company of the folks of Wingnut. We would much appreciate a visit if you find your weary feet traveling that road.
There is much more to come: for the C&C game we have Shadows of the Halfling Hall, Screens and Character Sheets. For Lejendary Adventures we have Gygaxs own Living the Legend, character sheets and They Who Watch. All this by Summers end if our good fortune holds. Melee the Board Game is fast approaching and I would like all good lords and ladies to contemplate an Play By Email version of this tournament board game.

Greetings.
Rejoice! For two lengthy years and more we and the Society have labored upon this most inspired Crusade. Our ranks have swelled to overflowing with the Chivalry of your tables. We people three continents and the host grows with each passing day. So Rejoice in this our strength.
Recently we have seen the release of the most August Gygaxs great tome Yggsburgh, the first of much more to come. Even now this book makes the rounds in shops and bazaars throughout the three continents. Make use of it, if you have not already, as it is filled to overflowing with the wealth of years of gaming.
Too, the Monsters and Treasure book has been released and more adventures for your knights and wizards! As has the 2nd issue of Crusader. A second printing of the Players Handbook is in the works as are the Character Sheets and Screens. All these should be upon the board before the winters snows bring that most holy of Saints, Nicholas.
But despite this we are must wroth with ourselves. The Chancellery is too small and of late we have not given the Society and all of your Chivalry the attention it deserves, nor worked to better organize our growing ranks. With well over 600 members we have decided that the Society needs a Seneschal. To this end we have queried several of the Marshals of the Society. The Lord Marshall Fiffergrund, Margrave of Shotwick Manor has offered his services. We have graciously accepted. To this end the rolls as recounted in the Doomesday book are being turned over to him and he is given the authority to call attention to events, tourneys and the like.
Rejoice! For this heralds a new chapter in the growth of the Crusade.
Alea iacta est!

It is joyous news that I bring to you. The Castles & Crusades Players Handbook is sold out. The word continues to spread and the game gain a greater foot hold in the lands at large. Rejoice ye Crusaders! For this is in no small measure your own doing. Alea iacta est!!!
We are going to move to an immediate second print. Peter and Davis have been working this past month to address issues with layout and editing. All of which should be finished this very day. Well have a number of the good folk look over the text to catch what we may have missed and then send the book to press. It should be ready just prior to Christmas.
As promised, we are also offering to have printed and bound a special personalized edition of this wonderful book. In brief these book can be personalized by you and come in one of three colors of imitation leather . . . green, brown and burgandy. They are sewn, hardback books with square backs. You can find out more on the dour Troll Lords or Societys website.
Also, coming soon: The Character Reference Sheets, another module The Haunted Highland, and the C&C miniatures.
There are a number of new sites helping and offering support to the community. Please take note of Grey Elfs site here: http://www.grey-elf.com/candc/ Its another great resource.
We are continuing to revamp the Society and hope to bring you all manner of goodies by the beginning of the new year!

Long have we neglected you noble worthies. For this we offer our humble apologies. There are many changes afoot with the Troll Lords and their Domains. These shall all become readily visible in the coming days. A new community gathering place is being constructed, using wares you are all quite familiar with we think, namely the phpbb. As well as a new face to the Troll Home designed by a professional internet architect. Well have many fresh missives up ranging from jungle lords to ancient castles! All this in the coming days.
Of course these improvements to our overall community come hard on the heals of the 2nd Printing over the C&C Players Handbook and the release of the Character Reference Sheets. If you have not heard, these latter are printed on the wonderful goldenrod paper, giving them a much more wholesome and altogether palatable appearance. These join a host of other materials for the game already laid out, including electronic versions of the Monsters & Treasure and the PH Condensed, a quick look at the C&C game for those who wish to experiment.
For now we bring news that work has at last begun on the long neglected screens, Crusader 4 and the gathering of the worthies for the Castle Keepers Guide. And of course once more we are going to give the Society a greater look and more attention.
We wish you all a happy Easter, a bountiful harvest, and good health.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of the Arch-Bishops latest creation! Living the Legend is a new companion adventure and bestiary for the Lejendary Adventure RPG. He toiled long hours upon this manuscript and has waited patiently for its release.
For those who may be in the dark about Lejendary Adventures, know that it is different than the normal fare offered up upon your gaming board. A game where skill overcomes class and you make the adventurer your own. The Arch-Bishop labored long in perfecting this and it behooves those of you who have not seen its unfolding to check it out. You can do so by visiting RPGNow and downloading the Free Quick start rules or by sending notice to He Who Sits on the Elephants Back for the Essentials Box.
The Honor is Ours! The Adventure is Yours!
In other news we have unveiled the new Message Boards. You can find a link to them in here. If this link fails then find the link on our old boards. We welcome one and all to the meet, where we may gather and pass away the days happy hours.

Proclaiming the Grimoire Crusadus!
On this, the 13th Day of October, 2008, the Faithful Squire carries forth this Proclamation of the Seneschal of the Castles & Crusades Society:
The Grimoire Crusadus has been found!
On this day, the 13th October, the Society has unearthed a find of immeasurable significance. Our scouts and adventurers delve deep and have returned with a tome our scholars and scribes are tentatively entitling Grimoire Crusadus. We have been careful to not disturb its fine pages, but curiosity has gotten the better of many of our wizards, who, under mesmeric thrall, opened this work and have found new, and wonderful, additions to the lore of dweomercraft. We are perusing, testing, and ensuring safe contents for all and shall send further notice.
That's right, folks. The first Society netbook is in progress, a netbook of Spells for C&C. We have opened a new forum for discussion of contents and the Seneschal has provided basic framework for matrials included. Please come by the forums and scribe a spell or six.. this is your chance to expand the game!
http://domesday.proboards80.com/index.c ... d=grimoire
As pronounced by Robert "Serleran" Doyel,
Seneschal of the Castles & Crusades Society
