The view from the Newbie corner
I just wanted to say that there is no way to express how much fun we had, but I will try to share a few thoughts.
This was not only my first time to play C&C, but it was my first con. I know there are bigger cons out there, but I can't imagine a better run con, nor can I imagine a better group of people.
We arrived shortly after 1 p.m. and I was able to meet Larry Elmore. I know it's been said already, but he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He signed my old Red Box Basic D&D set and both books inside.
Ben and I jumped in to Seskis281's game that afternoon and then I was in the now legendary game that Steven ran that night.
To say that things got out of hand is an understatement. I have to give Steve his due as a CK. I've been in games like that before and usually it ends up with the gm throwing a fit and the game goes unfinished. He on the other hand just went with the flow and everyone was rolling on the floor laughing by the time we wrapped things up. (From what I gather, we were just getting to the first real encounter when we stopped.)
I got to play in my first OD&D game thanks to Breakdaddy and then I ended the knight killing wights and skeletons (sorry Seskis281 for leaving)
I enjoyed the panels and visiting with everyone throughout the weekend.
All of this and my son got his picture made with a troll. Best weekend in a long time.
We left feeling as if we knew everybody there and I hope to get to know everyone even more so by next year.
The only thing I regret is that I didn't get to find out more about the scobbits.

Hey brotherdew, I'm glad you got to come out and participate! I can't think of anyone that didn't have a great time, myself included. I'm glad that you and your kids had fun and I hope we see you again next year!

Steve stated in one of the panels that Davis was working on a game called skobbits that was about trailer park trash hobbits.
Being from a long line of trailer park trash I felt drawn to such a concept. lol
Haha!
Actually, I forget that you're new to C&C and so are probably new to the campaign world of C&C which is Aihrde (formerly spelled Erde). There are creatures within it called skobbits. However, I can't recall if they are goblin types or troll children.

It was fun gaming with you Brother D and your son, Ben the Elder. It's good to hear you had such a great time and enjoyed the Con. I had a blast hanging out with everyone and the games were fun as hell.

Was great to meet and game with you and yours this weekend! Hope you had fun and that your Ben enjoyed the Traveller game. Looking forward to seeing you again next year, and don't be a stranger around these parts!

Sorry I didn't meet and shake hands, brother. I know we probably stood a few feet apart a dozen times. Glad you had fun!
