More of my miniatures

Post by Ogre »

Hey guys, thought I would share some more pictures of miniatures I have painted.

Here is a Ral Partha Orc sculpted by Bob Olley

These are my favorite orc figures on the market, still available from Ral Partha Europe.

Next is a Gelatinous cube I made out of tinfoil, they have since been sprayed with a gloss coat to make them more slimy, not the best home made gelatinous cube, but they cost about 13 cents a piece and take about 30 minutes.

Finaly the Dwarblin Snorko, Snorko is the unloved offspring of an unfortunate mating between a goblin and a dwarf, shunned by both his peoples, he wanders the dungeons to seek to make a glorious name for himself, the first, last and only member of his race.

I have immense respect for all of you that can do such a good job painting miniatures. That's one other thing I wish I was scads better at.

I really like the gelatinous cube, especially at the price!!

It's really not that hard, all I do is carefully dry brush successive layers of color, all the detail is on the figure, anyone with a steady hand can do it.

Nice! Love the Cube, 13cents well spent. The orc is really nice might have to keep my eyes open for those.

what would be really cool would be to get a clear cube made then have those laser guys interior etch bones and what inside it.

There are tons of on-line tutorials for homemade gelatinous cubes, using clear resin and the like, but the time and money involved is a lot more.

actually...you don't have to anymore. I know a couple guys that do 3d modeling...and just have the model printed at someplace like Shapeways in their clear material. Pricing isn't too awful bad and you could do a hollow model, do a little surgery and put a skeleton inside.

yeah cool stuff dude!

I alway just use lime jello with a mini stuck in them...they look really authentic until they start melting all over the battle mat.

One question: I am looking for cheap, and STURDY walls. I don't wish to pay for DF and I bought the bendy walls but they are too flimsy for the fat fingers we have.

Your walls looked thick and not so easy to knock over.

There are two different kinds of walls pictures(The orc is just in front of a black screen) the gelatinous cube walls were made with project make it bricks which I found at michaels craft store and bought half price with a coupon, I made some ruins with them for wargaming, they are a bit tricky to paint, and don't come out very well onces painted.

The wall behind Snorko is carved lego blocks, takes forever but gives a really good result, right now they are just facade peices, only the fronts are painted like brick, but I do intend to have a set of lego blocks I can pull apart and re assemble that has a good stone texture on them.

another option is
http://stores.castlekits.com/StoreFront.bok

they sell pre cast pieces from Hirst Arts Molds, I haven't gotten any but have heard they are good.

Some friends of mine on another forum cut bricks out of pink foam and glue them together and paint them, and have had tremendous results doing this.
