Fields of Battle, I really like it! Expansions?

Post by mostrojoe »

I would like to know if someone can tell something about the selling situation of the Fields of Batte miniaturerules, I have red it a pair of times and Ifind a really interesting and full of potential system.

Are there expansions for it? Adventure modules thought specifcally for it (like the first Companion adventure by TSR)?

Are there new ideas for armies, factions, combat strategies? Expansions for more detailed naval warfare or other special situations?

Well, I'm sure you saw the scenarios included in the rule booklet . . those are like modules to a degree. I like them and hope to try them soon.

I do believe there are some possibilities for future expansions. It might depend on how well the game sells.

Perhaps Casey or Steve will drop by and let us know.

I would love to see any and all additional stuffs for this game!!

Casey is working on additional materials already, and I am pretty sure he also told me that sales are going well for Fields of Battle. Whatever "well" means.

(Rhu, this is stuff he told me that night I was chatting with him about the rules on FB while you guys were fighting the Sahuagin and the Dragon Turtle.)

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Well, when I get the rules I still plan on making a random scenario generator.... so one can play infinitely or not.

I hoped so. The miniature market is booming in these times and so it was not easy to sell a new miniature system!

Working on it...

A bit of good news with potentially better news.

I'm finishing grad school (which sucks). In the meantime we are getting close to kicking crusader back into gear. I will be doing some miniature reviews and including some quick and nasty battle scenarios (featuring units based on the miniatures I review) for crusader. I will be re-posting the actual miniature review (with color pictures of the figs) on my Facebook Account, in an open gallery so anyone (friend or not) can access the review information.

Either way, a new skirmish or large scale battle set in either a generic world, or as part of the haunted highlands setting will be hitting crusader.

Looking to the future: A lot of the various modules I have been working on and tweaking for years will/can/ have additional battles that serve as backdrop for the "standard" type adventure. either as a start to the adventure, as an ongoing piece, or as a culminating event. Fields of Battle was by design something that I intended as an expansion to my own creative outlets as an adventure designer. I LOVE huge battles. I love books and movies that have some sort of mass conflict as the backdrop to the "small" adventure that takes place within the confines of the story. Hell, Luke Skywalker blowing up Death Star Mk 1 and participating in the defense of Hoth are both "huge' battles in the matrix of a "search and rescue" series of adventures. Thats good stuff, and great adventure making right there. Personal quests bookended by BIG BATTLES make adventures players remember forever.
