They just decide to order the 20th Anniversary edition, after having not touched their books except to move and dust them in 10 years!

I like 4th edition SR the best, that is having only played SR2-4. Personally not big fan of the setting or the rules system, but I had the absolute BEST GM for a SR campaign about a year ago. They guy knows SR, and he knows how to make a really immersive setting experience. IT was an amazing campaign.

I have noticed though, and maybe this was always the case, but it seems like SR4 has kind turned into RIFTS. The setting stuff aside, it seems the new books that come out for SR really ramp up the rules and the power of the equipment. I haven't read all of the new books, but that is the general impression that seems to be happening.

I'll have to get the anniversary edition some day. For now, I still loves me the original (with modifications from 2nd edition, notably from the supplements Street Samurai Catalog, Grimoire, and Virtual Realities.)

I love Shadowrun. The only problem I have with SR4 isn't the rules but the almost gutting of the setting. Colour me strange, but I loved the almost curse-words: drek, frag, slitch etc. They did the rules really well, but the flavour got burned away in my opinion. That and the classic cyberpunk artwork is just gone which is sad in a way.

I love SR 4 the best as well, and I started playing in the final months of 1E.

If anyone has any questions about the 4E books, ask. I believe I have every book released up through Seattle. I have the vast majority at the very least.

Classic Cyberpunk is NOT dead ..as long as you play it Be it ICE's Cyberspace & RTG's Cyberpunk 2020 (don't even mention CP3e..it's NOT Cyberpunk).

SR is cool , just don't like the rules. If I ever play it I'll use a fusion of Cyberspace/SM2/RMex/2 for the system.

I'm not saying CP RPGing in particular is dead, I'm saying that the whole genre is dead. Even post-cyberpunk (the genre) is past for the most part. What is the new near future, dystopian genre going to be now?
