Perfect-bound PHB lacks color plates
Perfect-bound PHB lacks color plates
Hey guys, this probably isn't the best forum for this question, but seeing as this one gets the most traffic...
I pitched C&C to a friend of mine and he ponied up up for a perfect-bound (soft cover) PHB because I told him it had color plates.
Well, the copy he got directly from TLG doesn't have color plates!
Did something change with it?
Thanks,
Lee

I believe the color plate printing of the soft cover PHB were a limited run that has since ran out.

The color plates version was the GenCon 2009 version. It was a limited print run for sure. Not sure about your version.

Actually you were able to get it at Troll Con and Gen Con that year, they may have had a few left over to sell from their website for a while, but not many.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

They were a limited run, but like Tree said, call TLG and ask about it,. if any are in stock still.
and get people here buzzing enough, and Steve will probably do another print run if it makes sense, financially.
(I'm not saying Steve is a cheapskate or whore or anything, but TLG can't lose money, that's not good business)

Safe to assume that, since the order came from TLG in the first place, they would have been out of stock.
An order I had placed for multiple copies of the M&T and PHB just before this year's Troll Con in July and none had the color plates. I agree they are fantastic and if there is ever a special edition done up after the CKG (of course), I think the color plates would be a great addition.

There was a limited edition run of the 4th printing PHB that was perfect-bound (softcover) that included a number of color plates, i.e. full-page color artwork. They were available at TC VII in 2009 and a few weeks later at GenCon, and then until the Trolls sold the remainder of the run.
No, you can't have mine.

I didn't even realize there was a version like that, I guess I need to pay more attention.
But, color plates for the CKG would be cool also.
