Deadlands Reloaded

Post by Piperdog »

There was a time when I thought the idea of a western rpg was lame. And a Wierd West theme made me gag. Funny how time changes perspectives, because once I got the Deadlands Reloaded pdf, I think it is really awesome.

On a sidenote, for those who play it (BD I'm lookin' at you, Hoss), what's with the new Marshal's handbook and new Player's Guide....is this basically expanding the basic ruleset by expanding into two books? I like the game enough to start chucking out money for hardcovers and supplements now.

Really a badass setting...

I played the miniatures game back in the day (wow, that was like 12 years ago or so). I loved that game, but never really got into Deadlands.

Interesting story if you are a fan of Bruce Campbell. I was at a convention in Columbus Ohio when the Deadlands RPG was originally released. The guest of honor at that convention was none other then Bruce Campbell. All day, fans of the Deadlands were bringing their books to Bruce for him to sign. Well Bruce had no idea what the Deadlands was all about. I happened to be standing next to him when a fan brought his Deadlands book up to sign. Bruce says to the eager-eyed fan, "What the hell is this stuff? You really need to play Brisco County Jr."

I lol'd

I have most of the original Deadlands stuff, and I think it to be an interesting game with some nice innovations, like using gambling in the game as a rule, not a "trick." I hope they carried that through the iterations... because if not, I would not bother. It's my favorite part.

they split the book into two sections. If you own the core rules you don't need the players or Marsh guide.

Frankly the adventures for it are not too good either..at least up till south of the border ect...

Thanks guys. I will probably convert old stuff over to Savage Worlds, and go from there. I like writing my own stuff anyway, but use the published adventures to kickstart my creative juices. I want to create a sandbox style campaign and let them take it where they want to go. I say "they" but so far my buddies think Deadlands is lame.

Keep me in the loop if you decide to have a web game.

I've been interested in a non D&Desque game for a while.

I don't own it, but if you get something organized I may be interested.
