Dungeon Crawl Classics #35: Gazetteer of the Known Realms

Post by Demiurge »

I'm thinking of buying this in .pdf as it is apparently OOP. True, it's available used on Amazon... for $1700! :o

Is it any good?
Has anyone used it for C&C?
Any idea if it will be re-released as a print product?

I tried to register on the GG boards to ask questions there but the registration system isn't sending me the conformation email.

There is definitely a lot to like about it. In fact I have it in PDF as well as two print copies, so I think maybe I should see if I can sell them on Amazon for $1700!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

Awesome setting! I ran the Troll Lord group with DCC35. It was great fun. We mainly focused on the Crieste portion of the map, with a lot of the action happening at High Cross and a town I placed nearby called Rookhaven. You will likely find the sandbox style very appealing, a bit like the old greyhawk box or the old judge's guild campaign stuff.

I found the print version, when it was in print, to be a bit pricey. Wasn't like $60 or $70 bucks?

70 bucks but if you can get even half of what those fools at amazon want, then I'd call it a NET PROFITS! :ugeek:

It's aight. You get your $70 worth of material in there. I love and at the same time hate the maps. Why did the artist put big blobs of green over the beautiful maps?!?! Gah, that kills me.

I got mine from a fellow board member, and read through it. I have not yet used anything from the work, but it appears to be useful in a "take what you need" sort of way. I doubt I'd ever play it as a setting.

Great setting. I'm running a campaign in it since two years, centered on Castle Whiterock in the Kingdom of Morrain, and we all have a lot of fun with this game world. The only BIG drawback for me are the crappy, too large, and often barely readable maps. These I really despise, but the rest is first class gaming stuff.

I thought the Germans loved geography? ;)

Do we? :)

But you're right in that the gazetteer maps look more like geographical (and not even good ones at that) than game maps. Personally, I prefer good maps above geography. :)

I *MIGHT* have mistaken a love of geography for a love of board games :D
