Freeport Companion
Re: Freeport Companion
Ha! I'm the same way when I find something I really like. I bought Borderlands for PC, PS3 and 360. Beat it on all 3 platforms at least once.
I just wish I could find the C&C Companion in paper. Do you know if they ever printed it? All I can find is the PDF. I'll probably end up getting the paper PGtoF and PDF of C&C FC.

Re: Freeport Companion
I don't think it was ever printed. It's not too big a file, though, so you could get it printed and coilbound at your local Office Depot or similar store for not much.

What do you think of it so far?mbeacom wrote:Ok, thanks, grabbing it at RPGnow........now.
Re: Freeport Companion
Liking it so far. There is a ton of detail in the Companion. They actually go into detail about drug addiction in Freeport and how much you can sell body parts for (should you be so inclined). LOTs of detail.

Woah.
Dumb question: Is freeport from a novel or something? or just made up from whole cloth?

Re: Freeport Companion
I"m still pretty new to the setting and Green Ronin publishing. To my knowledge it is their system neutral setting that they conceived and published. I don't think it's based on anything other than standard pirate and lovecraftian mythos. I bevieve it all started with a trilogy of 3E/d20 adventures they published that were very popular at the time. Anyone out there who knows for sure, feel free to correct me.

Re: Freeport Companion
Yes. Freeport was a uber-popular trilogy of modules in the days of 3E. It expanded to, like, a dozen more modules. The setting was born from those modules. There came monster books, and a slew of other releases for Freeport. Eventually, Green Ronin put together a whole setting book for 3E, and due to popularity, came out with the Pirates Guide to Freeport which was system neutral. It's pretty cool.

Re: Freeport Companion
I was reading through the C&C freeport companion yesterday. Just the races & classes. Interesting take on the Pirate and Noble. Noble is clearly a Knight varient using it's Charisma, but requring a skill check for the ability in most cases. Most interesting in that class was the 'engrage'. Similiar to the Barbarian's Rage ability, but the Noble angers someone else to a frenzy. Lots of options with that for NPCs and fellow PCs. The pirate defintely has some flavor. The +4 adjacent fighting or faint can be pretty powerful for low levels.
