Fictional characters' C&C stats
A thread where we can discuss/share our home-made C&C stats for known fictional characters.
They can be based on our common sense according to what they did in the stories they appeared in and/or from the stats they were given in other games.
When possible let's try to stick with official C&C stuff unless we really have no other choice but to make some stuff up. :p
Also, let's try to stick to medieval fantasy in this thread.

ooh ooh I'll play.
One little test I did before I chose C&C as a system was to see if I could recreate the three heroes from the Princess Bride; Westly (dread pirate roberts), Inigo Montoya and Fezzik.
Westley would be a Bard. I can see this being contentious but the clincher for me is the scene where in incapacitated Westley spins a tale (about "The Pain") until he regains use of his limbs- clearly a use of the Fascinate ability. He defeats Inigo in swordplay because of his superior natural abilities (dex, con and str) and higher level.
He would have Charisma prime (naturally, dashing hero and pirate leader that he is).
Strength prime (good at all that rope climbing and fighting and such).
And Constitution prime ("i spent the last few years building up a resistance to Iocaine powder").
S: 16 (strong, but no match for Fezzik)
I: 16 (truly a dizzying intellect)
W: 13
D: 18 (a natural swashbuckler)
C: 13 (only MOSTLY dead!)
Ch: 18 (able to convince the world he is the dread pirate roberts, win the girl, fascinate the prince and win Vizzini's allies over to his side).
Level: perhaps 16?
AL: Neutral? All that piracy probably isn't "good".

he would have Str prime of course, a life devoted to swordplay and revenge.
Also a dex prime ( a good fencer is light on his feet)
and a wisom prime ( he isn't that clever but is of sound judgement- as shown by his backing of Fezzik and Westley and great determination- his decades long quest for revenge and a bit of spiritual spark- evidenced by his father guiding his sword)

After my years of playing superhero games, I'm leerly of stating out ficiton characters. Most of the time, people tend to stat the hero at the apex of their career, which makes them cameo NPCs of the rarest sort in a game. And naturaly, most fans overstat their heroes.
I perfer to stat heroes at more modest levels to give the PCs more room to shine.
On stating NPCs in general, I'm not a fan of having every king or national champion be high-level in fear that players will kill a king and take over the kingdom out right. For my games, there are things that put royalty in charge beyond their level of butt-kicking.

Even though I still think Westley would be a Fighter I agree with the Charisma Prime and I don't fault your reasoning behind choosing Bard. Actually, I feel torn between agreeing and disagreeing with you! xD In the end though, I do think that a Prime in Charisma (with the same scores you gave though) is enough justification for what he does in the movie, no need for the Bard class.
But if I were to agree with you, I could totally see how a Bard becomes a pirate leader. I'm very willing to put this in the 'different valid opinions' category.
Other than that, I completely agree with the Primes and scores for both characters and love the story reasoning behind them! Exactly what I wanted to see in this thread! lol
As for the Final Fantasy one, I simply don't know enough about FF to fully enjoy it, but I'm still glad the thread's catching on. >.>
I was gonna try to stat Indiana Jones as a Rogue/Fighter Class and a Half but with TLG's Pulp game coming I guess that one can wait... :p

He is endowed with a permanent true sight spell effect and knows the languages of all living beings. Furthermore, Merlin can sacrifice Constitution points to modify the caster level, effects, range, or duration of any spell he casts but if he is reduced to 0 Constitution he is unable to perform additional magic until at least 1 week has passed; when doing this, no spell he casts requires spell components of any sort.
Merlin is allied with numerous powerful forces, both for good and ill intent, though he focuses primarily on those of benefice.

For me, Tyrion would be an exercise in houseruling in a few additional abilites that a PC wouldn't get. I'd take the Dwarven racial abilites for movement, Resistant to Fear and constitution and maybe tweak Animosity (Enemies of House Lannister) and Defensive Expertise (Foes 6ft and over.)

When I stat out fictional characters, I tend to follow a few key guidelines:
1. Level
In my game, level 4 is a Hero and level 8 is a Super Hero. Level 10-12 or so is the maximum allowed by an NPC. My general guideline is that a lone hero (Conan) is probably closer to level 8, but a group of heroes (Fafhrd & Grey Mouser) might be closer to level 4. If I mix classes (say, fighter-thief) I use the general guideline for the primary class and toss in 1-2 levels for a secondary. (Fafhrd might be a 4/2 fighter/thief, Mouser a 3/2/1 fighter/thief/MU, for example.)
2. Attributes
I let my attribute scale match the chart below.
"A" = 17-18 (One of the best in the land) = +2
"B" = 13-16 (Excellent) = +1
"C" = 9-12 (Average) = +0
"D" = 5-8 (Inferior) = -1
"F" = 3-4 (Clearly deficient) = -2
Sometimes I use the B/X chart which goes from -3 to +3. Either way I tend to focus on general patterns and not get fixated on exact stat totals. Also, I'm not interested in creating superman characters and it would be very rare for any character to be rated "A" in more than one category. Hey, they are heroes and you're playing heroes so why shouldn't they be similar in abilities?
As an example, Conan would be an "A" strength since that's what he's known for, but most heroes would be a B or a C. Conan gets a B dexterity since he's also known for that (but not so much as strength) and a B constitution, but probably C's in the other stats. Heck, give him B's in the other stats if you really think he deserves it. Just don't give him all 18's like the characters statted in AD&D's Deities & Demigods!
These provide quick guidelines so that I can stat out characters in a hurry. Of course, keeping things in context, my characters typically start in the 3-4th level range, don't advance often, and retire somewhere around 6-8th level.

Hey, they are heroes and you're playing heroes so why shouldn't they be similar in abilities?
As an example, Conan would be an "A" strength since that's what he's known for, but most heroes would be a B or a C. Conan gets a B dexterity since he's also known for that (but not so much as strength) and a B constitution, but probably C's in the other stats. Heck, give him B's in the other stats if you really think he deserves it. Just don't give him all 18's like the characters statted in AD&D's Deities & Demigods!
These provide quick guidelines so that I can stat out characters in a hurry. Of course, keeping things in context, my characters typically start in the 3-4th level range, don't advance often, and retire somewhere around 6-8th level.

I actually did this exercise to "sell" C&C to my D&D loving (0, 1 &2e) players a while ago. One of the many merits of C&C was a bard class that 1; actually works and 2; is actually kind of cool.treant_on_fire wrote:

Secretly, yes I can see how fighter works just as well, but publicly I will defend my bard Westley to the death and hurl unbelievers off the Cliffs of Insanity.

For me, the Bard is a Knight/Fighter hybrid to represent the educated fighter who isn't a noble. Perhaps a Man At Arms or a Duelist.
