20+ page long errata document?

Post by Treebore »

Was there EVER a 20+ page long fan compiled errata document? Someone over on ENWorld is claiming there was one available as a DL on the TLG website, but I don't remember there ever being such a document. I can't tell from his confusing writing if it was done for the first or second printing of C&C.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Longest one I ever saw was about 8 pages. And that was mostly typos. There's actually very little errata, comparatively, in relation to typos. :)

I guess it could be 20 pages if you stuck 2-3 of the different books together? I think Trav hosted the longest compilation, which was about 8 pages.

I think they are confused. I think the 20+ they are thinking of is that compilation I did of the 22 CK's and why we are fans of C&C document that the Trolls had up for a few years.

There has NEVER been a 20 page long errata document for C&C. Perhaps some fan did something, but there was never 20 pages worth of errata for C&C, ever.

My memory of my own work is hazy. But the errata for the Player's Handbook and Monsters & Treasure were kept separate until the third printing, when the amount of errata and typos in each book had dropped to about three pages apiece. The errata for the first prints was the longest, at a combined total of approximately 15 pages, and it dropped steadily from there.

Any mention of 20 pages of errata of course needs to be countered with a mention of the copious amounts of errata present in the d20 System. If I recall correctly, the errata for the "core" books (PHB, MM, DMG) was 32 pages in length and most of it was mechanics, not typos.

Whoever is doing errata for the CKG should take a look at pg228, the seige engine example involving Johann the rogue.
His base roll changes during the example from 14 to 15 and back again.

It also contains the line "Johann rolls of 14, adds his level and dexterity modifier (+4 total) for a final roll of 17, which indicates failure".

I bolded the grammatical error and is it just me or is 14+4 =18 NOT 17.
This is particularly confusing for a section explaning the siege engine because his CC in the example is 18, so he shouldn't fail with those numbers.
