Quick question...

Post by magehammer »

In the past, I have bought my C&C stuff from Amazon, Noble Knight Games, and FRP Games.

This time around, I ordered the PH Digest and the M&T Digest directly from the Trolls.

My question: Is it common to order something on Monday and not have it shipped out by the time the weekend rolls around?

If so, what is the reason for that?

I know some of the trolls left for GaryCon, but that was Thursday. Is anyone else minding the store?

I was hoping to have my books by the time my game rolled around on Monday night. Do I have a chance of getting them if they haven't shipped by Friday afternoon?

Anyone?

Hmm, great question. I have order a bunch of stuff from the Trolls, and most of it always goes out right away or within a day or two. I have had things take 7-10 days to get to me, but I'm not sure if that was because of TLG's handling time or the post office or whatever.

I think those guys were gearing up for GaryconIII on Thursday from the Twitter traffic and whatnot, so it is entirely possible any order that went in on Thursday is not getting processed until Monday.

I don't work for TLG and have no knowledge on how they do things just observations.

Best of luck MH!

To be clear:

I ordered on Monday. It is now Friday, and the order has been in processing since Tuesday. I assume 'processing' doesn't mean shipped?

Steve doesn't always send out email notifying customers of shipping. But as Omote said, given that they were gearing up for GaryCon thru the week, it's hit or miss whether they actually shipped anything yet.

Thanks, you guys.

I am just a bit disappointed is all. I thought I ordered them with plenty of time to receive them.

Back to my usual eStores I guess.

It could be the most unusual of circumstances -- the Trolls are out of stock. That might be considered a good thing.

They're usually very good and there have been a ton of sales recently so they might simply be backed up.
If you email steve @ orders at trolllord dot com he'll make it right.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Relaxo. I don't think they did anything that needs to be made right. I know things happen.

I just would have liked a little better communication up front:

"Generally we ship all orders within 48 hours of receipt."

I also thought I read somewhere in the ordering process that items would be delivered within 2 to 5 days.

It was the above information that led me to believe I would have my books in time for my next game. I started this thread to see if any of you had the same thing happen and if my experience was the norm or just my rotten luck.

If it's not my rotten luck, and this experience is the norm with every order being a hit or miss whether it actually ships in 48 hours as advertised, then I will simply order their products from a third party vendor next time.

If it is just my rotten luck and a matter of horrible timing on stock issues and so forth, I will order from the Trolls again.

I don't mean this thread to be a bash or anything; I am not ruined on TLG. I love C&C, and it's the game my group wants to play. I will keep buying their products (the CKG is next once I sell some more Magic cards). I just need to know the most efficient place to buy them.

One thing that the Trolls have no control over is the USPS. I know it takes three days for me to get my stuff after they have shipped it. Don't know how it works in other parts of the country.

True, Go0gleplex. I understand that. But I don't even know if my stuff is in the USPS's hands or not. I hope my books are winging their way to me now. That would be great.

Does 'processing' mean shipping? Has anyone received a 'processing' and received your items before 'processing' became shipped? Is 'shipped' a status they use?

As you stated earlier, G-plex, they sometimes fail to send an email that things have shipped but is it ever updated in my account? Those are the kinds of things I am trying to figure out.

yeah...I've had two orders that have arrived before the shipped notice did...and one order arrived before I even got the processed notice. lol It's just one of the Troll things...mostly due to a very limited staff.

I think you might be just in one of those occasional 'in between' spots. I know Steve just shipped out a bunch of stuff to catch up with the standing orders. Then more printing to catch up with new orders. On top of that, a convention this weekend. This week any new orders would most likely be caught between previous orders being shipped, and convention merchandise. So if you haven't received your order this week, chances are its going out early next.

The books were in my mail when I got home from work today. Just in time for my game! Yayy, Trolls, and yayy, me.

All is well.
